She worked four years at Hometown News as a general assignment reporter, then another two years at Spacecoast Daily in Cocoa Beach, Florida. Social Media Leads To Garnerville Driver In Halloween Night Stony Point Hit-Run With the help of social media, a 49-year-old man was nabbed for hitting a parked car in Stony Point and then leaving the scene. Michael Dove of Garnerville was charged for the incident that took place on Halloween around 7 p.m. after the police posted a photo of his vehicle on Facebook and neighbors began sharing the item, said Stony Point Police Lt. Daniel Hylas. Arlington House Fire Displaces Five Five people were displaced from their home following a basement fire. The Arlington Fire District responded to 14 Gentry Bend Road for a reported basement fire around 10:43 p.m. Thursday, Arlington Chief Tory Gallante. The first fire department unit arrived on the scene within minutes five minutes of the initial dispatch and encountered a heavy smoke condition inside the single-family home, he added. Woman Killed After Car Crashes Into Deer On Palisades Parkway A 50-year-old woman was killed after the car she was traveling in hit a deer on the Palisades Parkway and slammed into several trees, leading to an hourslong closure of the southbound lanes. The crash, which occurred around 6:30 p.m. Thursday near Clarkstown, closed the southbound lanes for more than four hours as police investigated the incident, said New York State Police Trooper Steven Nevel. One Killed In Tractor-Trailer Crash On I-91 A 41-year-old man was the victim of a fatal single-vehicle crash after losing control of a tractor-trailer on I-91. Ashley L. Bennett, of Uniondale on Long Island was killed around 4:43 a.m. Friday near Exit 14 in Wallingford, said the Connecticut State Police. According to the police report, Bennett was traveling northbound on I-91 in the right lane when he swerved off the right shoulder and down the grassy embankment. ID Released Woman Killed While In Middle Of Danbury Road As Well As Motorist Involved A woman who was struck and killed while standing in the middle of a busy area street on Thursday has been identified, police said. Clemencia Guallpa, 69, of Danbury, was killed around 6:30 a.m., when she was hit while on Franklin Street by a vehicle driven by 38-year-old Angel Cambizaca of Danbury, said Danbury Police Det. Lt. Driver Identified In Fatal Crash That Caused Hourslong I-95 Closure, Injured Greenwich Woman A 63-year-old man was killed when the bed of the dump truck he was driving hit an overpass sign on I-95, ejecting him from the vehicle. ID Released For Man Found Dead In Yard Of Neighbor's House In Poughkeepsie A 52-year-old man who was found dead in his neighbor's backyard after he didn't show up for work has been identified. Eric McRae was found by police on Wednesday around 11:30 a.m. by City of Poughkeepsie police officers who had responded to his home for a welfare check, said Det. Lt. Matt Clark. A 47-year-old school security officer who was driving his young daughter around trick or treating was arrested for drunk driving after he hit another vehicle, police said. Alligator Found Near Bushes In Hudson Valley Park A man and his grandson were quite surprised after finding an alligator lying in the leaves near bushes in the area.
