She worked four years at Hometown News as a general assignment reporter, then another two years at Spacecoast Daily in Cocoa Beach, Florida. Overnight Car Break-Ins Under Investigation In Westport Police have been investigating a series of car break-ins after a resident saw two men going through a vehicle. Westport police said following the resident's call, officers searched the area, but were unable to locate the suspects, said Westport Lt. Jillian Cabana. A total of two vehicles were broken into in the Saugatuck Shores area and one vehicle was stolen, she said. A vehicle stolen out of Norwalk on Nov. 9, was found dumped in the area. Erratic Driving Stop On Route 7 Leads To DUI Charge A 24-year-old local man driving erratically on Route 7 was arrested for driving under the influence. John Stalin Herrera-Mendieta of Danbury was arrested Saturday, Nov. 10 around 7:45 p.m. after Wilton Police spotted him driving his 2011 Ford Fusion erratically northbound on Route 7, said Wilton Police Sgt. Anna Tomello. During the stop, officers found the Herrera-Mendieta was driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, police said. Firefighter Injured In Two-Alarm Blaze That Damages Row Of Stores In Westchester A two-alarm fire damaged a row of stores in a commercial building in Yonkers that also slightly injured a firefighter. The blaze broke around 10:58 p.m. Tuesday in a cigar and vape store at 583 Central Park Ave., said Yonkers Fire Department Deputy Chief Daniel P. Flynn. When more than 55 firefighters arrived on the scene the fire had spread into the common cockloft-area of the one-story building at the corner of Central Park and Yonkers avenues, he said. Police: Shoplifting Suspect Caught After Fleeing Scene In Rockland Had 23 License Suspensions A 54-year-old man was arrested by Ramapo Police for shoplifting from an area store. The incident took place on Sunday when an unidentified man from the Bronx allegedly shoplifted electronic devices from a local store, said the Ramapo Police. After the theft, the man fled the scene but was stopped minutes later and arrested by Ramapo Police. During an investigation, police found that the man's driver's license had been revoked with 23 suspensions.

Pearl River Man Arrested Three Times For Stealing One Can Of Beer An area man who had been arrested twice before for stealing one beer from an area store has been arrested again. Victor J. Scala, 57, of Pearl River, was arrested Thursday, Nov. 8, by the Orangetown Police for petit theft for allegedly stealing one beer from the CVS Pharmacy at 75 N. Middletown Road and then left without paying, the Orangetown Police said. He was previously arrested for twice stealing one can of beer on two separate occasions on Oct. 22 and 23, at the 7-Eleven store on North Middletown Road. Milk Truck Overturns, Leading To Hourslong Road Closure In Ramapo A milkman rolled over his truck after trying to move over to avoid a school bus that had entered his lane around 7:30 a.m. Monday on South Monsey Road, Ramapo Police said. Seven Hospitalized In Rockland Carbon Monoxide Scare Seven people were hospitalized after police responded to a home regarding a call that a woman had fallen. When Ramapo Police arrived on the scene of the call around 10:23 p.m., Monday, they found that no was hurt, but that the home had been without power for several days and the occupants were using a gas powered generator to power lights and space heaters, police said. The generator was being operated in an enclosed deck that was attached to the residence. Police Probe Packages Stolen Outside Homes In Westchester Community As the holiday season approaches police are investigating four different incidents of thefts of packages from doorsteps and expect more "porch pirates" to be on the prowl. The thefts took place between Oct. 18 and Nov. 3 at four homes in Greenburgh, said Lt. Kobie Powell with the Greenburgh Police Department. Man Falls From Train Platform In Darien A 22-year-old man is being treated at an area hospital after falling from the Darien Train Station platform. The incident took place around 12:30 a.m. Monday when officers responded to the area of Post Road and the exit drive of the Darien Train Station, for the report of an unresponsive male, said Darien Police.
