She worked four years at Hometown News as a general assignment reporter, then another two years at Spacecoast Daily in Cocoa Beach, Florida. Here's How Many Speeding Tickets, DUI Arrest State Police Made During Holiday Enforcement State police have released stats related to their increased coverage over the holiday season, even as they continue their crackdown through Wednesday evening. As midnight Tuesday, police had responded to more than 6,000 calls for service, including 400 accidents, two that included fatalities. Officers said they also made 47 DUI arrests. The focus of the holiday week increased patrols including drivers under the influence the influence of alcoholic beverages and/or drugs as well as violations committed by aggressive drivers. Man Shoots, Kills Own Dog In Hamden A man shot and killed his dog at a park after it attacked another dog, sparking concern it might attack nearby children. The incident took place on Monday, Dec. 24, in the area of Brook Street and Wintergreen Avenue at an "off-leash," dog park, said Hamden Police Capt. Ronald Smith. According to Smith, Watler Haller, of Hamden, was walking his dog in the park when another Hamden resident, who was accompanied by three children, entered the park with a dog that was on a leash. Pearl River Crash Results In DWI Charge For 24-Year-Old A Pearl River man was busted for alleged drunk driving following a traffic crash, police said. Cesar Ruballos, 24, was arrested around 3:55 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 8, after Orangetown Police responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash on Crooked Hill Road in Pearl River, Sgt. Kirk Vega said. When officers arrived on the scene, they found Ruballos was driving drunk and transported him to the Orangetown Police headquarters where he refused to take a breathalyzer test. Ruballos was charged with DWI and released. He is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 8, 2019.

Alert Citizen Helps Police Locate Porch Pirate An alert citizen who witnessed a crime led to the arrest of a Fairfield County man for allegedly stealing packages from a residence. The incident took place around 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, when an Orange resident saw Corey Roberts, 28, of Monroe, take a previously-delivered package from her neighbor’s front porch, said Orange Police. New Update Released On Rockland Whooping Cough, Measles Cases The measles and whooping cough outbreaks continue in Rockland County as health officials work to stem the spread of the number of those affected.As of Friday, there are 96 confirmed cases of measles, with no pending suspected cases, said the Rockland County Department of Health. There are also 12 confirmed cases of whooping cough with no new cases pending, they added. Whooping cough is a highly contagious infection of the upper respiratory tract caused by a virus that is spread by direct contact with mucus from the nose and throat of an infected person. Box Truck Crash Backs Up Traffic On New TZB A crash that slowed traffic for about an hour on the new Tappan Zee Bridge has been cleared, but there are still residual back-ups. The crash of a box truck took place around 1 p.m. Friday on the Westchester-bound side near Exit 13 in Tarrytown, said the New York State Police. Currently, the bus lane and shoulder southbound are closed for repairs to the side of the bridge where the truck hit, state police said. Troopers have cleared the scene and traffic should be back up to speed soon, they added. No serious injuries were reported.

Alert Issued For Suspect In Theft At Area Cumberland Farms Police are asking the public for help in identifying a man who allegedly ripped off two cartons of cigarettes from a convenience store after fighting with the clerk. The incident took place around 12:20 a.m. Thursday when the man pictured walked into the Cumberland Farms store located at 819 River Road in Shelton, said Shelton Police Detective Richard Bango. Police Officer Seriously Injured After Car Overturns On Route 8 A 40-year-old local police officer was critically injured Thursday after losing control of his vehicle and crashing on Route 8 in Shelton. Justin LoSchiavo, of Derby, a Stratford police officer, was traveling in the left lane of three on Route 8 in Shelton around 4:26 p.m. when his 2017 Audi A4 Quattro, continued to veer to the left, went into the grassy median struck trees, rolled over and came to rest on the driver's side, said the Connecticut State Police. Bridgeport Man Charged With Violating Protective Order In South Norwalk A 36-year-old Fairfield County man was nabbed by police for violating a protective order after he was caught in the company of the person who had the order against him. Juan Rodriguez of Bridgeport was arrested around 2:30 a.m. Friday when a Norwalk police officer patrolling Water Street at Burritt Avenue observed three people engaged in suspicous activity, said Norwalk Police Lt.
