Two New Flu Deaths Reported In Connecticut Two flu-related deaths were reported in the first week of the year, along with the news of the illness being widespread across the state. According to a report from the Connecticut Department of Public Health, the two new deaths bring the number this flu season to a total of six. Of the six deaths, four were people over 65-years-old, one between 50-years-old and 64-years-old and one between 25-years-old and 49-years-old, the report said. Suspicious Package Closes Milford Police Office To Public The Milford Police Department’s front lot and lobby were closed for about an hour Friday afternoon to investigate a suspicious package. The department announced on Twitter the areas were closed around noon on Friday while officers investigated a suspicious package that was turned in at police headquarters. The department has since reopened after the package was removed from the area. The department Tweeted: "CSP removed the suspicious item from the Milford PD and will safely dispose of it. The Police Department is deemed safe and is reopened to the public."

ID Released For Man Killed In I-95 Crash A 57-year-old man killed during a single-vehicle crash that led to hours-long gridlock on Interstate 95 has been identified. Jean Fabre-Benoit, of Prospect, was killed around 6:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, on I-95 in Milford, said the Connecticut State Police. Woman Stabbed After Fight Breaks Out Following Crash At Danbury Gas Station A woman was stabbed in the eye during a fight following a traffic crash at an area gas station. Police were called Thursday to the Food Bag, 90 West St., Danbury for a motor vehicle accident with injuries, said Danbury Police Det. Lt. Mark Williams. I-95 Fatal Crash: Details Emerge After Tractor-Trailer Crashes Down Embankment The driver of a tractor-trailer carrying bottled water has died after the truck crashed off the road and down an embankment on I-95 in Milford. The incident occurred at 6:37 a.m. Friday on the southbound side of the highway between the rest stop and Exit 40, said Capt. Stephen Rabel with the Milford Fire Department. Wallkill Man Sentenced For Sexual Abuse Of Hospital Patient An Orange County man was sentenced to four years in state prison and 10 years post-release supervision for the sexual abuse of a hospital patient. Nathan Oglesby, 57, of Wallkill, was sentenced Thursday for having sexual contact with an inpatient of a residential facility where he was employed, the Orange County District Attorney's Office. Police Searching For Post Road Starbucks Burglar Police are asking the public for help identifying the person who burglarized a local Starbucks. Police responded to the business at 1740 Post Rd. in the Town of Fairfield early Tuesday, Jan. 8, to investigate an overnight burglary, said Fairfield PD Lt. Robert Kalamaras.
