Easton Resident Unloading Debris Killed After Being Hit By Car Driven By 92-Year-Old A 73-year-old Easton resident died Monday after he was struck by a vehicle at the Trumbull Transfer Station. Alexander Trup was hit around noon on Friday, Feb. 8, while unloading debris from his vehicle when he was hit by a car driven by Edward Socha, 92, of Trumbull, said Trumbull Police Capt. Keith Golding. Witnesses said that Socha was backing toward the building to unload material when his vehicle lurched backward struck Trup, knocking him to the ground. Intoxicated Man Arrested Driving With Dog On Roof In Nanuet, Police Say A Nanuet man was nabbed for DWI after police pulled him over for driving with a dog on the roof of his vehicle. Elvin Mejiagomez, 35, was arrested around 2:20 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, after a Rockland County Sheriff's patrol officers, observed Mejiagomez driving a vehicle in Kennedy Dells Park with his dog on the roof, creating a hazardous situation, the department said. Once stopped, deputies found that Mejiagomez was allegedly driving drunk and had alcohol in the vehicle, the Sheriff's Office said. Big News: Location Change For HBO Series Auditions Being Held In The Area Expecting a huge turnout, officials responsible for casting parts for the HBO series "I Know This Much Is True," starring Mark Ruffalo, have changed the venue for auditions. Rakesh Shah with Rita Powers Casting said auditions will now be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 23, at the Mid-Hudson Civic Center, 14 Civic Center Drive in Poughkeepsie. Auditions had originally been planned to be held at a smaller facility, 22 IBM Road in the Town of Poughkeepsie. Man, Dog Rescued After Falling Through Ice At Park In Milford A local man fell through an ice-covered pond while attempting to rescue his dog Tuesday morning while out for a walk. The incident occurred at Eisenhower Park in Milford, where the man was taking a walk with his dog, said Milford Fire Department Battalion Chief Anthony Fabrizi. The dog had spotted a team of ducks on the frozen pond and began to chase them when he fell through an area of thin ice and was struggling to swim back to dry ground. Driver At Large After Fleeing From Crash In Northern Westchester Police are on the hunt for a driver who narrowly missed a building after crashing in Northern Westchester on Monday night, Feb. 11. The incident on Old Post Road North was reported around 11 p.m. by an On-Star operator, and several passersby, the Croton Police said. Reward Offered In Search For Killer Of Westchester Woman Found Dead In Greenwich As police continue to dig for clues in the death of Valerie Reyes, the Westchester woman who was found bound and stuffed in a suitcase in a wooded area in Greenwich, a reward is being offered for information.
