Vigil Canceled For Westchester Native Who Jumped To Her Death From Danbury Mall Parking Garage A vigil that was planned for Danbury Fair Mall in memory of a high school student who died after jumping from the fifth floor of the parking garage there has been canceled due to concerns of unduly influencing other teens. Police Recover Gun, Pot During Check Of Vehicle In Trumbull A check of a vehicle parked in a vacant Trumbull building parking lot turned up a handgun and marijuana. Free Vaccine Clinic Announced As Number Of Rockland Measles Rises Again Rockland County is holding another free vaccine clinic on Wednesday in response to a rise of the number of total confirmed cases of measles in the county. To date, there have been 135 cases of measles in the county since the outbreak began in October 2018, with another three suspected cases, according to the Rockland County Health Department. The outbreak began with visitors to and from Israel in September where more than 2,600 people have reportedly been affected. Route 44 Reopens After Crash Involving Tractor-Trailer, Van With One Victim Airlifted This story has been updated. A portion of Route 44 in the Town of Amenia has reopened in both directions after an hours-long closure following a rollover involving a tractor-trailer and a van, said state police. Former Boyfriend Admits He Put Murder Victim Valerie Reyes In Suitcase, Authorities Say A former boyfriend arrested on Tuesday for the murder of 24-year-old Valerie Reyes of Westchester admitted during an interview with law enforcement that he bound the woman and stuffed her inside a suitcase before dumping it in Greenwich. Man Faces Charges After Fairfield, Bridgeport Police Chase A 40-year-old area man was nabbed by Fairfield Police following a pursuit that started with a routine traffic stop. Garage Damaged By Fire In Milford A garage was partially destroyed by fire after the homeowner disposed of ashes from a wood-burning stove into a plastic recycling bin. The fire took place around 12:42 p.m. Monday at 169 Yale Ave., Milford, according to Milford Fire Department Battalion Chief Anthony Fabrizi. Easton Resident Unloading Debris Killed After Being Hit By Car Driven By 92-Year-Old A 73-year-old Easton resident died Monday after he was struck by a vehicle at the Trumbull Transfer Station. Alexander Trup was hit around noon on Friday, Feb. 8, while unloading debris from his vehicle when he was hit by a car driven by Edward Socha, 92, of Trumbull, said Trumbull Police Capt. Intoxicated Man Arrested Driving With Dog On Roof In Nanuet, Police Say A Nanuet man was nabbed for DWI after police pulled him over for driving with a dog on the roof of his vehicle. Elvin Mejiagomez, 35, was arrested around 2:20 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, after a Rockland County Sheriff's patrol officers, observed Mejiagomez driving a vehicle in Kennedy Dells Park with his dog on the roof, creating a hazardous situation, the department said.
