Man, 26, Killed After Car Crashes Into Tree On Palisades Parkway In Rockland A 26-year-old man was killed after losing control of his vehicle on the Palisades Parkway in Stony Point over the weekend. Jason L. Perez, of the Bronx, died following the crash that took place around 6:07 p.m., Friday, March 29 near mile marker 29, said New York State Trooper Steven Nevel. Perez was driving a 1997 Honda southbound on the parkway when the vehicle left the roadway and slammed into a tree, Nevel said. He was taken to Nyack Hospital where he was pronounced dead, he added. Route 6 Stop Leads To Drug Possession Charges For Mohegan Lake Woman, 21 A 21-year-old area woman was allegedly busted for drug possession after Yorktown police spotted her acting "in a suspicious manner." Krista Camacho, of Mohegan Lake, was arrested around 6:56 p.m., Thursday, March 14, after she was seen acting strangely in the area of East Main Street, said the Yorktown Police. NYC Man Charged In Fatal Greenwich Hotel Overdose Death A 43-year-old man previously charged in connection with a fatal overdose death at a Greenwich hotel has been extradited to Connecticut to face charges. Daniel T. Linfante of Queens was extradited to Greenwich on Tuesday, March 26, after being apprehended by the NYPD Fugitive Task Force, and charged with manslaughter for the death of another man on Sept. 29, 2018, said Greenwich Police Lt. ID Fraud Suspect Used Fake CT License At The Westchester Mall, Police Say Police are asking the public for help identifying a woman who is a suspect in an identity theft investigation. The identity theft occurred March 2 at which time the suspect attempted to make purchases and open credit card accounts by falsely using the identity of a Connecticut resident, said Milford Police Officer Joesph Dempsey. The fraud was committed in White Plains, at the Westchester Mall, Dempsey said. Pilot Reports Engine Failure Before Helicopter Crash The pilot of a 1989 Bell 222A helicopter that crashed in the area said the chopper experienced an engine failure causing the crash and for the helicopter to overturn. The crash took place around 12:38 p.m., Saturday, March 30, near 77 Youngblood Road in Bullville, just west of I-87 in the Town of Crawford in Orange County. The six onboard, five passengers, who were celebrating a birthday, and the pilot, suffered minor injuries, Crawford Police said. Infiniti Driver Nabbed For Drugs After Passing On Right On Route 7, Wilton Police Said A Stamford man was arrested on alleged drug charges after officers watched him passing vehicles on the right-hand side of Route 7 (Danbury Road) in Wilton, Wilton Police said. Death Toll For Flu Season In CT Hits 57 As the flu remains widespread across the state, the Connecticut Department of Public Health announced two more deaths, bringing the total number this season to 57. According to the state's weekly flu report, of the 57 deaths, 37 of the people were 65 or older, 15 were between the ages of 50 and 64, four were between 25 and 49, and one was between the ages of 5 and 17. To date, a total of 2,670 people were hospitalized with laboratory-confirmed influenza during the current season, the report says. In addition, a total of 7,932 influenza positive …

NY Nears Statewide Ban On Plastic Bags For those of you still holding hopes using plastic bags, the budget vote by state lawmakers may be the end of those pesky bags for good. Lawmakers have until Sunday to come together on a final budget for the new fiscal year which begins Monday, April 1 and a state-wide ban on the bags is pretty much a done deal. The legislation which bans use on all single-use plastic bags will most likely be married to a 5-cent fee on paper bags.
