Nypd Officer From Suffolk County Shot During Chase With Armed Suspect
An NYPD officer from Suffolk County was shot while chasing an armed suspect and exchanging gunfire that left the suspect dead.
Officer Justin Vartanian, 34, of the 34th Precinct, was struck in the right armpit around 4:30 p.m., Thursday, April 18, while responding on foot to reports of gunfire by an armed man firing shots in the air, said NYPD Commissioner James O’Neill said in a news conference with Mayor Bill de Blasio.
A plainclothes officer, Vartanian, was responding to a call of a man firing a gun at the lot at Broadway and 187th Street in Washington Heights, according to O'Neill.

Renowned Ghost, Demon Hunter, Investigator Lorraine Warren Of Monroe Dies
Real-life ghost and demon hunter and paranormal investigator Lorraine Warren has died, her family reported.
Warren died in her sleep at her Monroe home on Thursday, April 18. She was 92.
Warren and her late husband, Ed Warren, who died in 2006, were known throughout the world for their work that inspired movies, including the "Conjuring" horror franchise.
"It is with deep sadness that I must announce that Lorraine Warren has passed away," said her son-in-law, Tony Spera in a Facebook post. "She died peacefully in her sleep at home last night."

State police arrested an 18-year-old after he allegedly pointed a BB gun at another motorist during a road-rage incident.
Nicholas V. Hollifield, of East Islip, was arrested around 1 p.m., Thursday, April 18, after troopers responded to investigate a complaint of road rage and a menacing on the Southern State Parkway westbound, west of Exit 32 in the Town of Oyster Bay, said Trooper Daniel Ahlgrim.

Woman Attacked After Ex-Boyfriend Breaks Into Town Of Poughkeepsie Home, Police Say
An out-of-state man was arrested for allegedly breaking into an ex-girlfriend's Town of Poughkeepsie home and attacking her while refusing to allow her to leave.
Jan-Michael Mohan, 29, of Festorville-Trevose, Pennsylvania, was arrested on Monday, April 15, after the victim was able to leave the home and notify police of the attack, said Town of Poughkeepsie Capt. Kevin Faber.
According to Faber, Hohan made entry into the residence without permission and during an argument placed his hands around her neck while applying pressure, making it difficult for her to breathe.

Three people were arrested following an altercation at a Northern Westchester tavern that left one man injured.
The incident began about 11:10 p.m., Wednesday, April 17, when a dispute broke out among several people who knew each other inside O’Connor’s Public House at 222 East Main St. in Mount Kisco, said Kieran O'Leary, spokesman for the Westchester County Police.
