Poughkeepsie HS Placed On Lockdown After Student Found With Loaded Gun, Police Say Poughkeepsie High School was placed on lockdown after a loaded handgun was found inside a student's backpack, police said. The incident took place around 7:48 a.m., Tuesday, May 14, when an attentive school security official at the Poughkeepsie High School discovered a student attempting to enter the school with a loaded handgun in a backpack, said City of Poughkeepsie Police Capt. One Arrested After Long Beach Hazmat Situation Caused By 'Fully Functioning' Meth Lab A Long Beach man was arrested after police found a fully-functioning meth lab in a detached garage after responding to a call for a man in distress. John Weinstock, 40, was arrested on Friday, May 10, after police responded to 324 West Beach Street, Long Beach, for a report of an unconscious man in the side yard, said the Long Beach Police Department. House Fire Leads To Duo's Arrests For Setting Off, Selling Fireworks In Levittown A house fire led to the arrest of a Levittown man and a teen after fireworks were found to be the cause of the fire. The fire took place around 4:20 p.m., Tuesday, May 14, at 277 Blacksmith Road in Levittown, said the Nassau County Police. Three-Vehicle Crash Backs Up Traffic On New Tappan Zee Bridge Traffic is backed up about two miles on the new Tappan Zee Bridge following a three-vehicle crash that included a tractor-trailer. The crash took place around 9:20 a.m., Wednesday, May 15, southbound in Tarrytown, between mile markers 20.4 TO 13.4, said the New York State Police. No injuries were reported, but two lanes were closed for a short time to clear the scene, causing the current back-up. New York State Thruway Authority is asking drivers to avoid the area.

Man, Woman From Bridgeport Charged After Armed Robbery Injures Clerk At Mayflower Motel A man and woman have been nabbed after an armed robbery of the Mayflower Motel in Milford that injured the motel clerk. Man Brandishes Knife After Being Caught Shoplifting At TJ Maxx In Fairfield, Police Say A 48-year-old man was arrested for allegedly pulling out a knife and threatening store employees after being caught shoplifting at TJ Maxx in Fairfield.
