Five Nabbed With Heroin, Guns During Newburgh Bust
A months-long investigation into the sale of narcotics in the Liberty Street area of the City of Newburgh has led to the arrest of five people and the seizure of a large amount of heroin, handguns, and cocaine.
Abimael Bruno, 37; Samir Lantigua, 25; Alex Santos-Martinez, 29; Micaela Sanabria, 34, and Christine Guzman, 26, of all of the City of New Newburgh, were arrested on Thursday, May 16, following a search the basement and second-floor apartments at 508 Liberty St., said City of Newburgh Police Det. Seen Her? Teen From Long Island Goes Missing In Hudson Valley

Police are asking the public for help in locating a Long Island teen who went missing from a group home in the Hudson Valley.
Cynthia DeFlora, 17, left Children’s Home of Poughkeepsie, located at 10 Children’s Way, in February, said the Suffolk County Police.
DeFlora’s father, who lives in Coram, reported her missing on Thursday, May 16, police said.
The teen is described as being a white female, 5-foot-8, with brown hair and brown eyes.

West Hempstead Man, 20, Tried To Con 82-Year-Old Out Of Thousands, Police Say
A 20-year-old man was nabbed trying to con an elderly man out of money in a classic grandparent scam.
Saul Agraz Morales, of West Hempstead, was arrested around 10: 20 a.m., on Wednesday, May 15, for alleged grand larceny that took place in Roosevelt, said the Nassau County Police.
According to detectives, Morales contacted an 82-year-old man at his home in Ohio on Tuesday, May 14, and told him that his granddaughter had been arrested and he needed to send $9,200 dollars to a Roosevelt address for bail, police said.

Pedestrian Killed After Being Run Over By Woman Backing Out Of Driveway In Valley Stream
A Valley Stream woman was killed while walking on a sidewalk when she was run over by a woman backing out of her driveway.
Sarwari Tabassum, 62, was hit around 2:40 p.m., Wednesday, May 15, on Arkansas Drive, said the Nassau County Police.
According to detectives, a female driver, 47, while backing out of a driveway on Arkansas Drive, drove over Tabassum who was walking on the sidewalk.
The driver, upon realizing what had happened, immediately stopped and called the police.
