Bethpage Man Attacks, Throws Social Worker On Floor During Evaluation, Police Say
A Bethpage man was arrested for allegedly assaulting a social worker while being evaluated at the Social Services building in East Garden City.
The attack took place around 9:35 a.m., Tuesday, July 16, at the Nassau County Social Services building at 60 Charles Lindbergh Blvd., said the Nassau County Police.
According to Third Squad detectives, Richard Schipani, 63, was being evaluated by a social worker when he became combative and threw the female victim to the floor.

Support Pours In For Family Of 36-Year-Old Father Of Two Killed In Head-On Easton Crash
People have opened their hearts and their wallets to support the family of a Redding father of two killed in a car crash that left his mother and young daughter injured.
Andy Rivera, 36, was killed around 5:33 p.m., Sunday, July 14, on Route 59 in the area of 757 Stepney Road, said Easton Police Chief Timothy Shaw.
Also, in his vehicle at the time of the accident were his 62-year-old mother, Maria, who will need two surgeries and his six-year-old daughter, Brianna, who was also injured.

Suspected 130 MPH Racer Caught After Fleeing In Rockland, Police Say
A man suspected of being part of a racing group that meets in the Nanuet area, was arrested by Clarkstown Police after fleeing the scene of a traffic stop, said Clarkstown Police.
The suspect, Steven Simkin, 23, of the Bronx, was arrested after an incident on Wednesday, July 10, when around 9 p.m. at Clarkstown officer noticed a vehicle parked in the underground parking garage of the Palisades Center Mall that matched the description of a vehicle that had fled the scene of a traffic stop days before, said Clarkstown Police.
