She spent 17 years at Florida Today in Melbourne, Florida as a general assignment reporter, crime reporter, entertainment reporter and restaurant critic. She worked four years at Hometown News as a general assignment reporter, then another two years at Spacecoast Daily in Cocoa Beach, Florida. Lightning Strike Cited In Fire At Business Complex In Westchester An electrical fire at a business complex in Westchester is believed to have been started by a lightning strike. The fire began amid a round of severe storms around 7:15 p.m., Monday, July 22, at 777 Old Saw Mill River Road, in Hawthorne, where Regeneron Pharmaceuticals is located, said the Hawthorne Fire Department. Hawthorne responded along with Elmsford Fire Department for a fire next to the structure, Hawthrone Fire said. Three Alleged Drug Dealers Nabbed In Greenwich Bust, Police Say Three alleged Greenwich drug dealers were arrested after residents expressed concern about drug sales taking place around the Adams Garden housing complex, Greenwich Police said. The bust went down early Friday, July 19, when police served numerous warrants at a residence on Bertoflf Road as a result of an investigation following the complaints, said Greenwich Capt. Robert L. Man Stopped For Possible Hit-Run Nabbed For Cocaine Possession, Police Say A Stratford man stopped for a suspected hit-and-run ended up being busted for alleged possession of cocaine. Mark T. Fabrizi, 28, was arrested after being stopped around 10:09 a.m., Sunday, July 21, said Fairfield Police Capt. Robert Kalamaras. During the traffic stop, Fabrizi admitted to officers that he had several grams of cocaine in his pocket. In addition, a narcotics K-9, also incidicated the presence of a narcotic odor, he said. Several Remain Hospitalized After 12 Injured In Stratford Crash, Police Say Several people remained hospitalized following a head-on crash of two minivans in Stratford that injured 12 people over the weekend. The crash took place around 1 p.m., Saturday, July 20, near the intersection of Main Street and Putney Valley Way, Stratford Police Capt. Frank Eannotti said. The injured, including some children, were transported to St Vincent's and Bridgeport hospitals. The crash remains under investigation.

O&R Customers Set Record For Power Demand During Heat Wave The relentlessly oppressive heat and humidity caused Orange & Rockland customers to break the all-time record for weekend electric demand with peak demand. Area Man Busted For Two Fairfield Burglaries, Police Say Police were able to nab the person allegedly responsible for two residential burglaries after catching the crook on video surveillance in the Town of Fairfield. The burglaries were discovered on Tuesday, July 16, when Fairfield officers responded to 233 Algonquin Road for a report of a residential burglar alarm, said Fairfield Police Capt. Robert Kalamaras. 21-Year-Old Killed By Fallen Tree Limb In Fairfield Was Personal Trainer In Stamford A 21-year-old man killed by a fallen tree limb during a severe storm in Fairfield was a personal trainer in Stratford. Jarrod M. Marotto died Wednesday, July 17, when a large tree limb fell on the driver's side of his vehicle in front of 3595 Park Ave., said Fairfield Police Capt. Robert Kalamaras. Police: Spring Valley HS Locked Down After Father Pepper Sprays Employees During Confrontation A confrontation over a student's medication led a father to allegedly spray a nurse with pepper spray at a day camp program at Spring Valley High School. ID Released For Westchester Woman Killed In Saw Mill Parkway Crash A woman killed in a two-vehicle crash on the Saw Mill Parkway early Sunday, July 21, has been identified as a 29-year-old Westchester resident. Daniella Gore-Johnson of Yonkers was killed around 12:18 a.m., during a collision on the southbound Saw Mill River Parkway in Hastings-on-Hudson, said Kieran O'Leary, spokesman for the Westchester County Police. A preliminary investigation indicates that a 2012 Honda Accord was struck in the rear by a 2017 Lexus RC 350 sedan. The collision sent the Honda off the roadway, causing it to strike a tree.
