She worked four years at Hometown News as a general assignment reporter, then another two years at Spacecoast Daily in Cocoa Beach, Florida. Man Arrested In Connection With Two Shootings In Area, Police Say The arrest of a Town of New Windsor man for possession of a semi-automatic handgun led to the discovery that he was allegedly involved in two shooting incidents. Ryan Disca, 23, was arrested by City of Newburgh Police around 8:15 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 10, while in possession of a Hi-Point 9mm semiautomatic handgun, said City of Newburgh Police Det. Lt. Joseph Burns. After his arrest, investigators served a search warrant on a residence on Columbus Street in the Town of New Windsor. Flooding Leads To Evacuation Of About 50 From Long Island Restaurant More than 50 people had to be rescued from a Long Island restaurant after it flooded with water from the nor'easter that caused extremely high tides. The Bay Shore Fire Department, along with Suffolk County Police rushed to the Lakehouse Restaurant in Bay Shore around 9 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 10, as the water began to rise and flood the restaurant, trapping all inside, said the Suffolk County Police. Southern State Parkway Five-Vehicle Crash Slows Traffic A five-vehicle crash on the Southern State Parkway has slowed traffic, but the highway is still passable. The crash took place around 8:56 a.m., Friday, Oct. 11, eastbound near Exit 20 in South Hempstead, said the New York State Police. Trooper Daniel Ahlgrim said there were no serious injuries. The South Hempstead Fire Department and Nassau County Police assisted at the scene. There is no lane closure at this time, state police said.

New Supermarket Opens In Rockland Shoppers who love a bargain, especially on high-quality food, will want to head to the new Aldi's grocery which has thrown open its doors in Nanuet. Located in the long-vacant site of the former Pathmark Store in Rockland Center, at 43 E. Route 59, in Nanuet, the German-based grocer celebrated its opening day Thursday, Oct. 10 by giving away gift cards to 100 lucky customers. Wanted Man Flees Into Spring Valley Target, Throws Drugs, Fights Cops, Police Say A 52-year-old man wanted on a warrant ran from police officers as they attempted to arrest him and into a Target store where a large struggle took place. The incident occurred around 11:20 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, when two Spring Valley Police officers were on patrol in the Spring Valley Market Place when they spotted Derrick McMullin who was wanted for numerous traffic-related offenses, said Spring Valley Officer Matthew Galli. Women Ejected From Vehicle During Fiery Bridgeport Crash, Police Say A woman was ejected from her burning vehicle during a crash on Route 25 in Bridgeport. The crash took place around 3:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 10, when the woman lost control of her vehicle while traveling southbound on Route 25 just before the split in the highway near exit 5, said Terron Jones, spokesman for the Bridgeport Police Department. The woman was ejected from the vehicle as it rolled over and then brust into flames, Jones said. She was rescued by members of the Bridgeport Fire Department and was transported by ambulance to the hospital, he added. Her condition is unknown. …

Road Rage Leads To Theft Of Cell Phone During Confrontation, Nassau Police Say An act of road rage led to a confrontation between the two drivers, where one allegedly stole the other's cell phone and threw it on the highway. The incident took place around 7:45 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 10, on Elmont Road in Elmont, said the Nassau County Police. According to detectives, a woman was driving southbound on Elmont Road when she became involved in a dispute with a man in another vehicle. Highland Man Nabbed For Allegedly Stealing $1,800 In Jewelry, Police Say A Highland man has been arrested for allegedly ripping off some $1,800 in jewelry. Dominick Teroni Jr., 45, was arrested by Town of Lloyd Police after he was accused of entering another person's home and stealing the jewelry, Town of Lloyd police said. Teroni was charged with felony burglary, grand larceny, and petit larceny. He was arraigned before the Town of Lloyd Judge Eugene Rizzo and is being held at the Ulster County Jail without bail.

Effort Underway To Help Son Stay At His High School After Deaths Of Mother, Father The community is showing its support for three children who lost both their mother and father, by donating to a GoFundMe effort in a large way. Kevin, Joey, and Brian Grogan (ages 17-26) lost their mother, Audrey Grogan, and father, George Grogan, during a murder/suicide event that set off a large manhunt in the area of Bear Mountain Reservation. Second Woman Arrested In Stabbing Of Man At Westfield Trumbull Mall Police detectives tracked down and arrested a second person wanted in connection with a stabbing incident that took place at the Westfield Trumbull Mall in August.
