Woman Nabbed For Numerous Traffic Violations, Possession of Heroin During Stop, Police Say
A 38-year-old area woman was busted for driving with a suspended license and possession of heroin following a traffic stop.
Monica Maciog, of Monroe, was arrested on Tuesday, Nov. 26, following a traffic stop on Washington Avenue in Newtown, for having a suspended vehicle registration due to not having insurance, said Newtown Police Lt. Aaron Bahamonde.
During the stop, officers found that Maciog also had a suspended driver's license and two active warrant, Bahamonde.
Officers also found Maciog was in possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia.

Armed Robber Spots Police Officer Inside Restaurant, Flees Scene
A masked man brandishing a gun intending to rob an area pizza restaurant fled from the scene after spotting a uniformed police officer inside.
The incident took place around 10:20 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 5, in Bridgeport at Arthur’s Famous Pizza Restaurant on Park Avenue, said Terron Jones, spokesman for the Bridgeport Police.
But when the man spotted the officer picking up dinner, he fled the scene, said Capt. Brian Fitzgerald.
“The officer pursued him, but the male was able to escape in a waiting vehicle," Fitzgerald said.

Man Arrested Twice In One Day For Attempting To Punch Woman, Illegal Weapons Possession
A 57-year-old man was arrested twice in one day, once for allegedly attempting to punch a woman in the face, and later for illegal possession of weapons.
Ulster County resident Jeffrey Sackal, of Saugerties, was first arrested at 1:17 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 4, when Town of Saugerties police responded to Center Road for a report of domestic violence, Chief Joseph Sinagra said.
When police arrived they found that Sackal had allegedly threatened to punch the victim in the face while approaching her in a threatening manner.

Suffolk Woman Attacks Nassau County Restaurant Employee With Liquor Bottle, Knife, Police Say
A Long Island woman was arrested after attacking an employee at TGI Friday's with a liquor bottle and a knife and then attempted to leave and steal the bottle.
Skylar Williams, 32, of Wyandanch, was arrested around 12:30 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 5, at the restaurant in Massapequa, said the Nassau County Police.
According to detectives, Williams walked behind the bar inside the restaurant located at 5204 Sunrise Highway and attempted to pack food obtained from an all you can eat promotion.

Still No Decision On Criminal Charges By DA In Twins' Hot Car Death
A father who left his 1-year-old twins in a hot car where they died while he was at work will have to wait a bit longer to learn his fate.
Rockland County resident Juan Rodriguez, 39, of New City, appeared briefly in court on Thursday, Dec. 5, hoping to learn if the Bronx district attorney will proceed with criminal charges, but the prosecutor requested another adjournment. They did not say what was holding up the process.
In a hearing lasting under a minute, Rodriguez and his attorney, Joey Jackson, were told that the case had been adjourned until Feb. 6, 2020.
