Two Charged In Hit-Run Of Bridgeport Firefighter
Two people have been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run in June 2019 that left a Bridgeport firefighter seriously injured.
Adrian Cauthen, 33, and Frances Marino, 33, both of Bridgeport, were arrested Thursday, Jan. 23, were charged in connection with hitting the off-duty fireman who was crossing Stratford Avenue when he was hit and left in the roadway, said Bridgeport Police Capt. Kevin Gilleran.
According to Gilleran, Erique McCalla, 46, was crossing Stratford Avenue around 11:18 p.m., June 28, 2019, when he was struck by a vehicle.

Police have arrested the father and his fiancée in connection with the death of an 8-year-old Long Island boy.
Thomas Valva was found dead in the driveway of his home at 11 Bittersweet Lane, in Center Moriches, around 9:40 a.m., Friday, Jan. 17.
The boy's father, Michael Valva, said the child had fallen in the driveway.

Woman Sentenced For Selling Fentanyl-Laced Heroin To Person Who Later Died
An area woman has been sentenced to four years in state prison for selling heroin to a woman who later died from an overdose.
Orange County resident Ashley Parker, 27, of Deerpark, was sentenced on Wednesday, Jan. 22, in connection with the May 2019 death of a Port Jervis woman, said Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler.
According to the District Attorney's office, Parker pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide and criminal sale of a controlled substance on Nov. 14, 2019.

Cause Of Death Determined For UConn Student, 19, Pulled From Icy Lake On Campus
A cause of death has been determined for a University of Connecticut student who was found in an icy lake.
Tianyin Shang, 19, from Shanghai, China, was found dead after being pulled from Mirror Lake on the Storrs campus on Monday, Jan. 20.
The Chief Medical Examiner's Office said on Wednesday, Jan. 22, that Shang's death had been ruled a suicide by drowning.
Shang was a fourth-semester math student and member of the Western Equestrian team.
