One In Custody After Downtown Stabbing In Area
A 25-year-old area man is under arrest after he allegedly stabbed another man.
Devin C. Smith, of New Paltz, was arrested around 10:20 p.m., Friday, Jan. 24, and charged with one count of felony assault, said Lt. Robert Lucchesi of the New Paltz Police Department.
According to Lucchesi, police responded to the area of Main and North Front streets for a reported stabbing. Once on the scene, they found Smith, who was being detained by bystanders.
Officers also found the victim, a 24-year-old man, who sustained a stab wound to his torso, Lucchesi said.

Michelle Pavia, Daughter Of Former Stamford Mayor, Dies In Snowmobile Accident
The daughter of former Stamford Mayor Michael Pavia died after being involved in a snowmobile crash.
Michelle Pavia, 43, of Stamford, was killed around 9:45 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 25, after hitting a group of trees while snowmobiling in Maine, according to WGME ABC News 13.
“This is a tragic loss for the Pavia family and Stamford’s community," said Stamford Mayor David Martin. "I have called Mayor Pavia to express my condolences for his family. This a tremendous loss, and I wish the best for the Pavia family as they endure this tragedy.”

Long Island Woman Charged With Hate Crime For Harassing Members Of Synagogue, Police Say
A Long Island woman has been arrested for allegedly harassing members of an upstate synagogue, making them fear for their safety.
Suffolk County resident Tara Rios, 47, of Greenport, was arrested on Saturday, Jan. 25, by the New York State Police and the FBI Terrorism Task Force, and charged with harassment as a hate crime, said the New York State Police.

Four Shot At Bridgeport Courthouse, Police Say

Four people have been shot at the Bridgeport Courthouse, according to police.
The shooting took place around 12:15 p.m., Monday, Jan. 27, at the courthouse on Golden Hill Street, said Rowena White, director of communication for the City of Bridgeport.
According to White, an assailant shot at individuals in a vehicle. Three of those injured ran from the vehicle into the courthouse for cover. The fourth person, the driver of the vehicle, was also hit.

Three-Vehicle Crash Injures Two, Including Police Officer, Near Area Gas Station
Two people were seriously injured during a three-vehicle crash in the area, including a police officer.
The Town of Poughkeepsie crash took place around 10:24 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 25, on South Road in the area of the Mobil Gas Station, said police.
