Police Investigating Armed Robbery Of Gas Station In Northern Westchester Police are investigating an armed robbery of a Northern Westchester gas station by a man armed with a handgun. The incident took place around 2:30 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 31, in Peekskill at the Sunoco at 980 Washington St., when the man, wearing a mask, entered the store and demanded cash from the lone employee, said Peekskill Police Lt. Jack Galusha. The clerk turned over an undetermined amount of cash and the man fled the store in an unknown direction. No one was injured during the robbery and no arrest have been made. Galusha said the incident remains under investigation.

School Bus Crash Victims Upgraded From Critical Condition Three people, including a young girl, have been upgraded from critical to stable condition in the hospital following a crash between a school bus and a truck. The crash took place in Orange County around 8:21 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 21, on Route 207 in the Town of New Windsor. New Windsor Police responded and found that a commercial tree service truck that was heading westbound on Route 207 crossed over the double yellow line and struck the Washingtonville School District School Bus. Man Accused Of Attempting To Drown New Canaan Woman Slapped With Sexual Assault Charges A man who has been sitting in jail since May for allegedly attempting to drown and murder a woman walking down a roadway in Fairfield County has been charged with sexual assault and attempted sexual assault. New Canaan Police charged Mynor Romeo Alvarado-Canahui (“Alvarado’), at the Stamford Superior Court on Wednesday, Oct. 21, with the additional charges, said Lt. Jason Ferraro. 80 Passengers Evacuated After Train Misses Hitting Car Struck On Tracks On Long Island An LIRR train missed hitting an empty vehicle stopped on the tracks but caused some 80 passengers to take a bus to their destination. The incident took place around 10:34 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 21, when a train out of Penn Station headed for Hempstead, reported an automobile on the tracks near Stewart Manor, said Michael Cortez, spokesman for the MTA. The train did not come into contact with the automobile nor did it proceed any further. Route 9W Reopens Following 11-Vehicle Pileup All lanes of Route 9W have reopened following an 11-vehicle pileup that closed the roadway for several hours. According to the state Department of Transportation, the crash took place southbound north of Route 218 around 7:22 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 22, near the West Point Overlook in Orange County. Helicopter Pilot Makes Emergency Landing Off Long Island Coast A privately-owned helicopter made an emergency landing off the Long Island coast. The incident took place around 4:15 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 21, near Wantagh when the 64-year-old pilot had to ditch the aircraft due to weather conditions at North Meadow Island in the area of the Loop Parkway, said the Nassau County Police. Pedestrian Seriously Injured After Being Struck By Vehicle In Area A 37-year-old man was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle while walking along a roadway. Dutchess County resident Terrance J. Hector, 37, was struck around 7:45 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 20, in Wappinger on New Hamburg Road by a 2005 Hyundai Elantra, said Trooper AJ Hicks of the New York State Police. Dump Truck Crashes Into House On Long Island, Landing In Kitchen A dump truck slammed into a home early Wednesday, Oct. 21, landing in the kitchen of a Long Island home. The incident took place in Suffolk County around 7:20 a.m., at 138 Plymouth Blvd., in Smithtown, said the Suffolk County Police. According to Suffolk County Fourth Precinct officers, the dump truck driver lost control before crashing into the house. There were no injuries. The Smithtown Building Department responded to evaluate the damage. The driver of the truck was issued multiple summonses.
