She spent 17 years at Florida Today in Melbourne, Florida as a general assignment reporter, crime reporter, entertainment reporter and restaurant critic. She worked four years at Hometown News as a general assignment reporter, then another two years at Spacecoast Daily in Cocoa Beach, Florida. Long Island Man, 68, Dies In Early-Morning House Fire A 68-year-old man was killed after a house fire broke out on Long Island. The blaze, in East Northport, at 257 4th St., was reported around 6:50 a.m., Monday, Oct. 19, by a 911 caller, said the Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad and Arson Section. Resident Edward Woiczechowski was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner, police said. Wanted Man Nabbed In Rockland With Help Of K-9, Police Say A man wanted on two warrants was nabbed by Ramapo Police early Monday, Oct. 19, with the help of a K-9 officer. Early Monday, Ramapo Police reported they had received a call from the Vermont State Police stating they were looking for a suspect involved in a felony eluding case in Vermont. Vermont State Police had reason to believe that the suspect was in the Sterling Mine Road area of the Village of Sloatsburg, police said. Rise In Ramapo Bear Sightings Sparks Concerns After a recent rise in the number of reported bear sightings in Ramapo neighborhoods, the town's supervisor is advising residents to take precautions. "My office has received multiple calls from residents who are rightfully concerned about recent bear sightings," said Supervisor Michael Specht. Army Veteran Stabbed To Death Outside Veterans' Home In Area A 55-year-old Army veteran was stabbed to death outside Liberty Station, the veterans' home where he lived in the City of Poughkeepsie. Anthony Gray, 55, of the City of Poughkeepsie, was found fatally stabbed around 9:25 p.m., Friday, Oct. 16, on North Clinton Street when police responded to a report of a disturbance, said City of Poughkeepsie Police Captain Richard Wilson. 40-Year-Old Woman Found Dead Inside Fairfield County Home A 40-year-old woman was found dead inside her home after police were called to perform a welfare check in Fairfield County. Jennifer Brelsford, of Bridgeport, was found dead inside a home at 176 Goodard Ave., around 8 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 18, by Bridgeport officers responding to the scene, said Bridgeport Police Capt. Brain Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald said Brelsford was found with "obvious signs of trauma," to her body inside the home. One Arrested At Popular Area Craft Beer Bar Following Shooting A 40-year-old area resident was arrested for allegedly shooting another man in the leg during a brawl at a popular local craft beer bar. Man Harasses Employees Of Route 1 Restaurant After Skipping On Bill, Police Say A 58-year-old Fairfield County man was arrested after allegedly skipping out on a restaurant bill and then returning and throwing rocks at the establishment.
