She spent 17 years at Florida Today in Melbourne, Florida as a general assignment reporter, crime reporter, entertainment reporter and restaurant critic. She worked four years at Hometown News as a general assignment reporter, then another two years at Spacecoast Daily in Cocoa Beach, Florida. She attended Eastern Florida State College in Melbourne, Florida.

Newly Named White House Press Secretary Is Native Of Fairfield County A Fairfield County native has been named to serve as President-elect Joe Biden’s White House press secretary. Stamford native Jen Psaki (pronounced Saki) was named to an all-female communication's staff by Biden on Sunday, Nov. 29. Psaki, a 1996 Greenwich High School graduate, currently oversees the confirmations team for the Biden-Harris transition, the president-elect said in a news release. Man Holds Up Long Island Convenience Store At Gunpoint Police are asking the public for help locating a man who allegedly held up a Long Island convenience store at gunpoint. The robbery took place around 7:30 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 29, at the Express C-Store in Valley Stream, Nassau County Police said. According to detectives, a Black man entered the store located at 749 West Merrick Road purchased a can of soda. Dead Man Found Lying In New Haven Street - Witnesses Wanted Police are asking the public for help during an investigation into a fatal motorcycle crash in New Haven County. Ansonia police responded to a report of a man lying in the roadway around 7 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 29, at the intersection of East Main, Main, North Main, and State streets, said Lt. Patrick Lynch. Man Shot Outside Long Island Smoke Shop Police are asking the public for help regarding a shooting outside a Long Island smoke shop. According to detectives, officers responded to a smoke shop around 10 p.m., Friday, Nov. 27, located at 132 Nassau Road in Roosevelt where a 62-year-old man was shot in the left leg by an unknown suspect while standing outside, Nassau County Police said. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. He is currently in stable condition. Serious Crash Hospitalizes Two In Danbury Police are asking the public to come forward if they witnessed a vehicle crash that left two seriously injured in Fairfield County. The crash took place around 7:51 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 28, in the area of White Turkey Road Ext. and Riverview Drive in Danbury. Teenage Fatal Stabbing Victim Was High School Soccer Star In Northern Westchester As family and friends mourn the stabbing death of a Northern Westchester 18-year-old soccer star, the school district is offering counseling to those in need. Peekskill resident Joaquin Salazar, 18, was killed around 9 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 28, following a fight among a group of people at China Pier on Louisa Street, Peekskill Police Chief Don Halmy said. Vehicle Crashes Into Home In Fairfield County A driver slammed into a home in Fairfield County, causing extensive damage. The incident took place in North Stamford around 4:40 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29. Firefighters arrived on the scene and found that a passenger vehicle had collided with an attached garage of the residence at 32 Lynam Road, said Stamford Deputy Fire Chief Matt Palmer. Man Arrested In Connection With Long Island Overdose Death A 31-year-old man was arrested in connection with an overdose death on Long Island. Corey Sealy, of Hempstead, was arrested around 9:30 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 29, following the death in Seaford, said the Nassau County Police. Sealy was arrested following the death and charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and two counts of a criminal sale of a controlled substance. He will be arraigned on Monday, Nov. 30, in Mineola.

Area Man Threatens Woman, Steals Purse, Police Say An area man has been arrested on a warrant for threatening to hurt a woman and then stealing her purse. Eric Lapenna, 33, of Milford, was arrested on Thursday, Nov. 12, by Milford Police, said the Milford Police. Lapenna is accused of threatening to hurt a woman that was driving him from an appointment. The female exited the vehicle and Lapenna then grabbed her purse, got in the driver’s seat, and drove away in her vehicle in June 2020. He was charged with: Robbery Breach of peace Threatening Two counts of larceny Lapenna was held on a $20,000 bond.

Woman Accused Of Stealing Nearly $500 From Macy's In Northern Westchester A Northern Westchester woman has been arrested for allegedly stealing nearly $500 in goods from Macy's. Maria Heras, 54, of Yorktown Heights, was arrested on Monday, Nov. 23, after Yorktown Police were called to the Macy's at the Jefferson Valley Mall for a report of shoplifting. When officers arrived on the scene they located Heras and an investigation into the incident found that she allegedly stole $484 worth of clothing from the store. Heras was charged with petit larceny and released on an appearance ticket.
