Kathy Reaks has worked as a reporter in the local news business since 1984, starting as a news clerk and working her way up. She spent 17 years at Florida Today in Melbourne, Florida as a general assignment reporter, crime reporter, entertainment reporter and restaurant critic. She worked four years at Hometown News as a general assignment reporter, then another two years at Spacecoast Daily in Cocoa Beach, Florida. She attended Eastern Florida State College in Melbourne, Florida.

Covid-19: These CT Testing Sites Don't Require An Appointment For those needing a COVID-19 test, Community Health Center is offering sites statewide that do not require an appointment.  In addition to not needing an appointment state officials said you do not have to be exhibiting symptoms to receive the tests. CT Man Admits Having Unregistered Firearms A New Haven man waived his right to a trial and pleaded guilty to possessing unregistered firearms. Family Of Seven Displaced Following Fire At Two-Story Home A family of seven was left homeless following a massive fire at their Fairfield County home. The fire started around 11:18 p.m., Monday, Dec. 21, at 161 Cheshire St, in Stratford, said Assistant Chief/Fire Marshal Robert Daniel.  When firefighters arrived on the scene they found heavy fire coming from two of the second-floor bedroom windows of the large colonial style home.  The fire extended up and into the attic, said Daniel. Man Fleeing Troopers Put K-9 In Headlock, CT State Police Say A man who put a state police K-9 in a headlock in order to try and escape after taking a vehicle without permission was nabbed by police. Joseph McCormack, 29, of Ashford in Windham County, was arrested around 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 19, after Connecticut State Police responded to a home in Stafford on a complaint that a vehicle had been taken without permission. Stamford Resident Killed In Two-Vehicle Crash Stamford Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash that left a city resident dead.  The crash took place around 3:20 p.m. Monday, Dec. 21 in the area of 455 Hope St., said Sgt. Jeffrey Booth of the department's Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad. Massive Fire Causes Heavy Damage To Two Long Island Homes Firefighters battled a massive fire that ripped through two Long Island homes overnight. The fire started around 10:30 p.m., Monday, Dec. 21 at 519 Fulton Avenue in Hempstead. Both houses were reportedly vacant homes and no injuries were reported. Alert Issued For Long Island Girl Who's Been Missing For A Week Police are asking the public for help locating a missing Long Island teen who has not been seen in seven days. Alisha Mingot, 15, was last seen on Tuesday, Dec. 15 leaving her Valley Stream home around 12:01 a.m., Nassau County Police said. She was reported missing to police on Monday, Dec., 21. According to detectives, Mingot is described as being Hispanic, 5’2” tall, 110 pounds, with long curly black hair, blue eyes and wears braces.  Her clothing description and probable destination are unknown.
