Off-Duty Fdny Employee, Good Samaritans Rescue Victim Of LI Crash In Burning Vehicle
An off-duty FDNY employee along with two Good Samaritans dragged a man from a burning vehicle following a single-vehicle crash in Nassau County.
The crash took place around 2:53 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 5, in Woodbury, said the Nassau County Police.
According to detectives, a 2012 Audi was traveling westbound on the Long Island Expressway when the driver, 34, lost control of the vehicle.
The vehicle left the roadway and struck a cement barrier wall, which launched the vehicle into the cement overpass for the Seaford Oyster Bay Expressway, police said.

Ex-CT Teacher Who Posed As Teen Sentenced For Soliciting, Receiving, Distributing Child Porn
An ex-teacher from Connecticut has been sentenced to 70 months in prison for soliciting, receiving, and distributing child pornography.
Dylan Koerner, 29, of New Britain, formerly of West Hartford, was sentenced Monday, Jan. 4, said U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut John Durham.
In addition to the 70 months in prison, Koerner was also sentenced to three years of supervised release.

Father, Son Stole Items From Fairfield County Landscaping Company Numerous Times, Police Say
The father of a man who had already been arrested for allegedly breaking into a commercial company and stealing items has turned himself in to police.
Robert L. Petro, 81, of Waterbury, was arrested on Tuesday, Dec. 29, after the series of alleged thefts that took place at a landscaping business in Wilton in 2019, said Wilton Police Lt. Gregg Phillipson.
According to Phillipson, Petro, and his son, Michael Petro, 47, of Wolcott, would enter the property of the landscaping business and steal equipment such as leaf blowers, chain saws, and more.

Norwalk Officers Arrested After Being Caught In Hotel Room While On Duty, Police Say
Two Norwalk police officers have been arrested for an incident last year in which they were caught in a hotel room while on duty.
Officers Michael Dimeglio, an 8-year member of the department, and Sara Laudano, a 5-year employee, surrendered themselves at Norwalk Police Headquarters on Tuesday, Jan. 5, and were served with arrest warrants stemming from an incident that occurred on Saturday, Oct. 10, said Sgt. Sofia Gulino.
