A 22-year-old Long Island woman has been arrested for allegedly scamming a woman out of more than $13,000 after she was told her granddaughter had been arrested.

LI Man Nabbed For Multiple Crimes, Including Robbery, Grand Larceny, Police Say
A Long Island man has been arrested for multiple crimes including armed robbery and grand larceny.
Joseph Mancuso, age 48, of Central Islip, was arrested around 5:15 p.m., Monday, Jan. 25, when Suffolk County Police responded to The Home Depot, located at 1101 Sunrise Highway, in Copiague, following a 911 call reporting a man carrying a handgun in the parking lot.
When officers arrived at the scene, they located Mancuso and placed him under arrest. Mancuso was in possession of an imitation pistol, a stolen credit card, and a stolen 2001 Toyota Camry, Suffolk County Police said.

Community Rallies To Support Family Of 21-Year-Old Killed In Long Island Crash
Just days after a 21-year-old Long Island man was killed in a single-vehicle crash, the community is rallying to help cover funeral expenses.
Christopher Gutierrez, of Brentwood, was killed around 12:45 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, on the Southern State Parkway at exit 40 in the town of Islip.
According to state police, Gutierrez was traveling eastbound when his vehicle, a 2017 Subaru, left the roadway, striking a line of trees.
Gutierrez sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene, according to police.

Man Arrested For Burglarizing LI Smoke Shop, Police Say
Police arrested a Long Island man for a burglary that occurred in February 2020.
Matthew Vicchiarelli, age 40, of Deer Park, was involved in a motor vehicle crash in North Babylon, Tuesday, Jan. 26, at around 10:10 p.m.
While a police officer on the scene was investigating the crash, it was discovered Vicchiarelli had four active warrants, and he arrested, said the Suffolk County Police.

Felon From Fairfield County Sentenced For Making Threat While Armed, Feds Say
A Fairfield County man has been sentenced to 48 months in prison for the illegal possession of a handgun and for making threats while armed.
Marques Milton, 36, of Bridgeport, also known as “Biz,” was sentenced Tuesday, Jan. 26, to prison time followed by three years of supervised release, said John Durham, U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut.

Covid- 19: Here's How Much Average CT Driver Saved On Gas Last Year Amid Pandemic
Drops in demand and crude oil prices, coupled with COVID-related travel restrictions, allowed the average Connecticut driver to save at least $240 last year compared to 2019, says AAA Northeast.
In 2019, CT drivers paid an average of $2.72 for a gallon of self-serve, regular gas. In that year, a driver, who traveled 12,000 miles annually in a vehicle delivering 25 mpg, would have spent $1,305, said Fran Mayko, AAA Northeast spokeswoman.

Sixth Teen Charged In CT Homicide
A sixth, and what police believe is final Connecticut teen has been arrested in connection with the attempted robbery and murder of another teen.
The 16-year-od teen was arrested on Monday, Jan. 25, by Waterbury Police, who says he was involved in the robbery-gone-wrong, that resulted in the death of 17-year-old Taevan Mosher, on Friday, Jan. 22, in Waterbury, said Lieutenant David Silverio.
