NY To Crack Down On Impaired Driving During Super Bowl Weekend State and local law enforcement agencies across the state will be stepping up patrols to crack down on impaired driving during the Super Bowl weekend. Eversource Issues Warning For Increased Reports of Scam Eversource is warning customers of a classic utility scam involving a threat to disconnect a customer’s electric or gas service because of an unpaid bill and demanding immediate payment is circulating through the region again. Two Wanted For Armed Robbery In Custody After Fairfield County Police Pursuit Police arrested two suspects wanted for an armed robbery and for taking police on a pursuit in Fairfield County. The incident took place around 9:15 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 3, when Bridgeport Police officers spotted a vehicle wanted in connection with an armed robber in Stratford, said Scott Appleby, director of emergency management. When Bridgeport officers attempted to stop the vehicle in the 200 block of Hollister Ave., the vehicle fled on Wilmont Street, Appleby said. The suspects were captured and are in custody, he added. State Police Issue Alert For Pet Scam New York State Police have received multiple calls from people scammed out of hundreds of dollars after answering classified ads for purebred puppies for sale. Victims report after answering the ad, the suspects provide a photo of the breed they are looking for and arrange a deposit to be paid, said Trooper James O’Callaghan. Woman Charged In Connection With Fairfield County Overdose Death, Police Say A Connecticut woman has been arrested in connection with an overdose death in Fairfield County three years ago. Ebony Thomas, age 40, of Derby, was arrested on Thursday, Feb. 4, for selling the drugs associated with the death of a 48-year-old man in Shelton on Wednesday, July 4, 2018, said Shelton Police Det. ID Released For 27-Year-Old Killed In Hit-Run Long Island Crash Police have identified a man killed during a hit and run crash on the Sunrise Highway on Long Island. Joseph Logue, 27, of Bellport was hit and killed east of Hospital Road, in East Patchogue, at approximately 6 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, when he was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene, said the Suffolk County Police. Logue was pronounced dead at the scene.
