She worked four years at Hometown News as a general assignment reporter, then another two years at Spacecoast Daily in Cocoa Beach, Florida. Woman Hit, Killed By Amtrak Train In Connecticut A 22-year-old Connecticut woman was hit and killed by an Amtrak train while allegedly "trespassing" on the tracks. Alexandra Trippodo, of Branford, was hit and killed around 1:10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 13 when she was hit on the tracks east of New Haven, said Beth Toll, a spokeswoman for Amtrak. According to Toll, Trippodo was hit by Amtrak Acela train 2248 on its way from Washington, D.C. to Boston, just east of the New Haven station. Man On Run Nabbed On Long Island For Sexual Assault Of A Child, Police Say A 37-year-old man who was on the run for allegedly sexually assaulting a child under 13 was nabbed on Long Island by the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Bureau. Jorge Mora, of Hackensack, New Jersey, was arrested on Thursday, Feb. 11, after investigators from the Criminal Investigations Bureau received a phone call from the Bergen County Prosecutors Office Special Victims Unit requesting assistance in apprehending a fugitive wanted for sexual assault on a child less than 13 years of age, said Sgt. Former Employee Arrested For 'Ransomware' Scheme At Fairfield County Business, Police Say A 33-year-old out-of-state man has been arrested on a warrant for allegedly hacking into a former Fairfield County employer's computer system, causing the business to become the victim of a "ransomware" attack. Yigitali Ercan, of Philadelphia, was arrested on Tuesday, Feb. 9, for the incident which took place in September in Westport, said Lt. David Wolf of the Westport Police. Man Robbed While Getting Into Vehicle At Shopping Center Parking Lot In Fairfield County A man was robbed at a Fairfield County shopping center parking lot while getting into his vehicle. The incident took place around 5:50 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 14, at the Thruway Shopping Center at 1233 E. Putnam Ave., in Greenwich, said Greenwich Police Captain Mark E. Zuccerella. Man Nabbed For Robbery At Long Island Smoke Shop, Police Say A 24-year-old man was arrested for an alleged robbery at a Long Island smoke shop that injured two employees. Ali Saif, of Queens, was arrested around 6:18 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 10, for the incident at Laxmi Smoke and Vape Shop in Massapequa, said the Nassau County Police. Westchester Man Charged For Stealing Used Cooking Oil Arrested Again In Fairfield County A 26-year-old Westchester man who was arrested last year for stealing used cooking oil from an area business has been arrested again for using a fake name at the time he was apprehended in Fairfield County. Ivan Martinez, age 19, of Islip, was arrested on Wednesday, Feb. 10, for the incident that took place on Sunday, Jan. 31, in Centre Island, according to the Nassau County Police. CT Man Nabbed For Kidnapping After Stealing Car With 6-Month-Old Baby Inside, Police Say A 37-year-old Connecticut man has been charged with kidnapping after allegedly stealing a vehicle with a 6-month-old baby inside. Man Who Assaulted Victim Nabbed In Area, Police Say A 34-year-old man was arrested by state police after allegedly assaulting another person. Orange County resident William S. Kleiber, of Monroe, was arrested on Wednesday, Feb. 10 by New York State Police for the domestic incident which took place on Saturday, Feb. 6, said Trooper Steven Nevel. Woman Faces DWI Charge After Crashing Into Mailbox In Fairfield County, Police Say A Fairfield County woman has been arrested after turning herself in to police on an outstanding warrant for driving under the influence. Suzanne Lancey, age 45, of Norwalk, was arrested on Monday, Feb. 1, for an event that took place on Sunday, Nov. 8, in Wilton.
