CT Man Caught With Heroin, Crack Was Carrying Loaded Gun, Feds Say
A federal grand jury has returned an indictment against a Connecticut man charging him with narcotics distribution and firearm possession offenses.
Ronnell Rogers, 27, of New Haven, was arrested on Thursday, Jan. 28, and entered a not guilty plea during a court appearance and was ordered to be held without bail, said John Durham, U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut.
As alleged in the indictment, on Sunday, Jan. 17, Rogers possessed distribution quantities of heroin and crack cocaine, and a loaded Smith & Wesson .45 caliber semi-automatic pistol.

Long Island Woman, 20, Nabbed For Stealing More Than $300K From Employer, Police Say
A Long Island woman has been arrested for allegedly stealing more than $300,000 from the business where she worked as an assistant manager.
Maria Pineda, age 20, of Hempstead, was arrested on Sunday, Feb. 21, for grand larceny that took place from Jan. 1, 2020 through Feb. 21, 2020, at John's Farm in Plainview, Nassau County Police said.
According to Robbery Squad detectives, an employee of John’s Farm, located at 601 Old Country Road, noticed a discrepancy in cash received and the daily cash receipts totals.

Worker Rescued After Tool Pierces Hand At Area Business
Firefighters spent more than an hour rescuing a worker who had a large metal auger through his hand and stuck inside a pipe at a Sullivan County business.
The incident took place around 9:19 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 18, at Ideal Foods, located 89 Mill St., in Liberty, said Liberty Assistant Fire Chief Mark Johnstone.
According to Johnstone, the worker, who was standing on a ladder, was working on a machine in the basement of the business when the auger, which was attacked to about 100-feet pipe pierced his hand and pulled his hand into the pipe.

Duo Nabbed With Crack, Heroin During Traffic Stop, State Police Say
New York State Police nabbed a duo for alleged possession of crack cocaine and heroin during a traffic stop.
Alan Stone, 27, of Pacific, Montana, and Cameron Mollica, 43, of Jacksonville, North Carolina, were arrested around 12:31 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 14, in Orange County during a stop in the town of Woodbury, said Trooper Tara McCormick.
According to McCormick, during an interview with the driver, the trooper found probable cause to search the vehicle and found more than 2.6 grams of crack cocaine and 7.5 grams of heroin.

Northern Westchester Woman, 28, Drove Drunk At More Than Twice Legal Limit, Police Say
A Northern Westchester woman was arrested for allegedly driving drunk at twice the legal limit.
Kaya Odierno, age 28, of Goldens Bridge, was arrested on Tuesday, Feb. 16, by New York State Police following a traffic stop for multiple vehicle and traffic violations on I-95 in Mamaroneck, said Trooper Tara McCormick.
During the stop, Odierno was found to be intoxicated and was arrested, McCormick said.
Odierno was taken into custody and processed where her blood alcohol content was determined to be 0.18 percent or more than twice the legal limit of .08 percent, state police said. …
Parole Jumper Nabbed With Assault Rifle, Semi-Automatic Pistol, Police Say
A Connecticut man wanted for parole jumping was found with an assault rifle and semi-automatic pistol when nabbed in an area hotel.
Tijun Mims, age 26, of Hamden, was arrested on Thursday, Feb. 18, for an incident that took place at the Red Roof Inn in Milford on Thursday, Feb. 4, said the Milford Police.
While being arrested on Feb. 4 for the Department of Corrections for being a parole jumper, Mims was found to be in possession of an assault rifle, a semi-automatic pistol, and four high-capacity magazines, police said.

Resident Admits Stealing From CT Town's Board Of Education Child Care Program
A Connecticut woman has pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud related to her theft of more than $38,000 from East Haven's Board of Education child care program.
Catherine Finkle, age 58, of East Haven, pleaded guilty on Thursday, Feb. 11, said John H. Durham, U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut.
According to court documents and statements made in court, from January 2000 to November 2018, Finkle was the East Haven Board of Education Program Director for the School-Age Child Care Program, commonly called the Little Jackets Program.
