Pearl River Water Main Break Slows Traffic Pearl River residents will want to avoid Gilbert Avenue due to a water main break, according to the Orangetown Police. The break occurred Friday Gilbert Avenue at the intersection of Sickletown Road. Suez water has crews working in the area.  Motorists are asked to drive slow, be prepared to stop, and consider an alternate route.

Blocked Chimney Sickens Nine With CO Poisoning In Yonkers A blocked chimney caused carbon monoxide levels to rise in a Westchester apartment, sending nine people to the hospital, according to Yonkers Assistant Fire Chief Edward Cucolo. The incident took place around 2:30 a.m. Friday when an ambulance was sent to the apartment house at 104 Oak St. in Yonkers when a 10-year-old fainted, Cucolo said. Multiple Crashes Leave I-87 Traffic At Standstill In Orange For those who have to brave the highways, Orange County Emergency Management officials are warning that I-87 is open, but due to multiple crashes, is at a standstill. The department reported around 4 p.m., Thursday that traffic is not moving between Exit 16 and Exit 17 (Harriman and Newburgh), and for motorists to use alternate roadways if possible. Snow Emergency Declared In Orange County Snow emergencies in regards to parking have been declared in several Orange County towns and cities as the Nor'easter continues to pound the area with brisk winds and snow.   By noon Thursday, the City of Newburgh, Middletown, Goshen, and Monroe had all advised residents that parking on-street was off limits during the emergency to allow for street plowing.  Vehicles can be towed during an emergency, but most police departments said they would try to locate the owner before towing. Power has been restored to several thousand residents in Putnam County within the past hours, but almost 400 residences are still powerless, according to NYSEG. At noon Thursday, ripping winds and heavy snow had severed power to 3,379 customers, but crews have been able to restore power to most except for 191 in Southeast, 21 in Carmel, 117 in Patterson, and 2 in Somers.  NYSEG said if you have a downed power line, gas odor or other dangerous situation, to call 911. Tractor-Trailer Crashes Down Embankment On I-84 This story has been updated A tractor-trailer overturned after crashing down an embankment on I-84, initially blocking the right lane in Fishkill, according to the New York State Police. Trooper AJ Hicks said the crash occurred around 11:30 a.m. near Lime Kiln Road on Thursday during the height of the snowstorm. The eastbound lane of the roadway was closed, causing stop-and-go traffic and delays up to 20 minutes. There were no injuries reported.
