Man Nabbed With Loaded Handgun In Route 17 Stop In Middletown New York State Troopers nabbed a man with a loaded gun during a traffic stop Sunday while patrolling Route 17 in Middletown. Troy Pittman, 37, of Woodbridge, was arrested after troopers stopped him for a traffic violation, state police said. During the stop, troopers found a half-ounce of marijuana and a loaded Lorcin .380-caliber pistol, police said. Pittman was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of marijuana. He is being held at the Orange County Jail. Bail has not been set.

One Injured In Crash That Causes New Windsor Road Closure Forge Hill Road is back open to traffic following a single-vehicle traffic crash that caused minor injuries to one person, New Windsor Police said. The crash happened about 1:11 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Forge Hill Road and Route 9W, said Vails Gate Fire Chief Chris Sweeny.  According to the chief, there were two occupants in the vehicle when the driver crashed, causing minor injuries to one person. Both people were transported to New Windsor Hospital for observation and treatment. Traffic was backed-up for a short time as the vehicle was removed from the roadway.

Two Flee After Ramapo Home Invasion Two people forced their way into a New Hempstead home while the residents were at home, but fled before police arrived, according to the Ramapo Police Department. Police responded to the home around 10 p.m. Sunday on Elizabeth Court in the Village of New Hempstead for a report of a burglary in progress, police said. The residents told officers that while they were home, the two forced their way into the house.  Police declined to say if anything was taken or if residents in the area should be concerned. Pair Of Teens Charged In Vandalism Of Port Jervis Store, Vehicles A pair of area teens were charged with criminal mischief for damaging the windows of numerous area businesses and vehicles, according to the Port Jervis Police. Police said the teen damaged at least 13 windows in stores and vehicles throughout the city on the evening of Jan. 13. An investigation led to the teens, ages 16 and 17-years-old, who were arrested on Tuesday and charged with multiple counts of felony criminal mischief, police said. Their names were withheld because of their ages.  Both were arraigned in Port Jervis City Court and released to their parents.
