Poughkeepsie Man Busted For Drugs After Complaints From Residents A Poughkeepsie man was busted for possession of crack cocaine after investigators with the Dutchess County Task Force received complaints of drug dealing in the area. Edward Grant, 57, was arrested on Friday, Jan. 19, following a search of North Clinton Street home by the task force along with the City of Poughkeepsie Police Emergency Services Unit, said Frank Tasciotti, a spokesman with the task force. Yonkers Man Nabbed For Trying To Kill The Same Man Twice Detectives from the Yonkers Police Department nabbed a local man wanted for trying to kill the same man twice, according to the Yonkers Poice Department. James McNair, 23, of Yonkers was arrested Tuesday following a lengthy investigation by detectives that began following the first shooting and attempted murder of a 29-year-old Yonkers man, on Sunday, Jan. 14 around 1:42 p.m. on Warburton Avenue, said Yonkers Police Spokesman Dean Politopoulos. Five Rockland County Residents Busted For Welfare Fraud Five Rockland County residents were busted for stealing more than $46,000 in welfare benefits, according to Rockland County District Attorney Thomas Zugibe. Sex Assault Trial Date Set For Ex-nypd Cop From Orange County A former NYPD lieutenant accused of raping and sexually assaulting two underage girls he knew is headed for trial in April. Judge Williams DeProspo set April 4 for the start of jury selection for Nicholas McAteer, 46, of Greenwood Lake, who faces an 82-count indictment in Orange County Court. He was arrested in August and indicted in October 2017. McAteer, who is free on $25,000 bail, is accused of raping one victim in 2003 and 2007 and then groped her in 2016. Man Who Impersonated Officer Committed Sexual Assault, Bridgeport PD Says A man was nabbed on Wednesday for impersonating a cop and then sexually assaulting a woman in a city garage, according to Bridgeport Police. Jorge Santiago, 42, of Derby was arrested on a warrant by Det.Walberto Cotto for an incident last July in an abandoned garage on Park Street, police said. During the attack, Det. Manager At Westchester Market Said Crash 'Sounded Like A Bomb Went Off' The manager of DeCicco Food Market in Pelham thought a bomb had exploded when a car backed into the front of the popular market. Firefighters Rescue Swan Stuck In Ice On Candlewood Lake When it comes to being a firefighter you never know who or what you might rush to save. Friday, Danbury firefighters were busy saving a large white swan stuck in the ice at Poets Landing. The department said on their Facebook page that they were called for a public assist for the report of a swan stuck in the ice in the area of Candlewood Lake near Hayestown Avenue. Day Care Owner In Fairfield Sentenced For Killing Child With Benadryl The owner of a Fairfield daycare who was accused of killing a 4-month-old Shelton boy with Benadryl, was sentenced to 30 months in prison, according to the Fairfield State Attorney's Office. Carol Cardillo, 53, pleaded no contest to second-degree manslaughter in November, was charged last September in connection with the March 22, 2016, death of Adam Seagull, who died at her Edgewood Road home in Fairfield. Five-Year-Old Struck By Taxi After Getting Off Bus In Kiryas Joel A 5-year-old child has been hospitalized after being hit by a taxi shortly after getting off a school bus in Kiryas Joel, according to the New York State Police. The child was hit around 12:30 p.m. Friday on Stropkov Court after getting off the school bus, said State Police Spokesman Steven Nevel. Nevel said investigator were still on the scene and was not sure if the taxi had gone around the stopped bus.
