Suspect In Southbury Police Standoff Struck Trooper, Police Say A man who held police at bay for more than 14 hours was arrested after striking a Connecticut State Trooper while surrendering to police.  During a search of his home, troopers found numerous weapons. 11-Year-Old Hit By Car Near School Bus Stop In Stamford A Stamford boy was hit by a car near his school bus stop after he ran into traffic, according to Stamford Police. Sgt. Joseph Jarrett said the initial investigation shows the 11-year-old boy was hit at the corner of Daskam Place and Glenbrook Road. The boy, who was not in a crosswalk, was transported to the hospital with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries, police said. The driver remained on scene. Six Ducklings Rescued After Being Stuck In Storm Drain Near Compo Point Westport firefighters were busy Saturday saving six ducklings from a storm drain. The department received a call about the ducklings and headed to Compo Road South to rescue the little guys. Westport Animal Control also responded to the scene. Working together, the two agencies managed to rescue all six ducklings.  A mother was not spotted in the area.
