Fire Breaks Out At Former Restaurant Site In Town Of Wallkill An early morning fire destroyed the former site of a restaurant in the area.The two-alarm fire, which started around 4:30 a.m. Thursday at the former site of the closed Rusty Nail off Dunning Road, was fully involved when the first arriving fire units from the Mechanicstown Fire Department arrived on the scene. Due to the large nature of the fire, part of Dunning Road was closed until later in the morning as crews works to douse the flames that consumed the building. Poughkeepsie Fire Department Responds To Two Fires In One Morning Poughkeepsie firefighters were on the run Thursday morning tackling two fires within hours of each other. The first fire took place around 6:16 a.m. at 333 Mansion St., when a pile of clothes on the second floor of the home that was supposed to be vacant and off-limit following a fire at the same location on Saturday, said City of Poughkeepsie Fire Chief Mark Johnson. Woman In Critical Condition After Being Hit By Vehicle Crossing Street In Northern Westchester A 61-year-old woman is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Route 121 in Northern Westchester with her bicycle, state police said. The incident took place around 6:37 p.m. Wednesday when the woman was attempting to cross Route 121 in Lewisboro in the hamlet of Cross River when she was struck by a northbound car, said Trooper AJ Hicks, spokesman for the New York State Police. Note Left In Stolen Car Results In 15-Year-Old's Arrest For Car Dealership Burglaries A school work paper led to the arrest of a 15-year-old Fairfield County teen in connection with two car dealership burglaries that took place over the past two months. The first burglary occurred Oct. 26, at Curtis Ryan Honda on Bridgeport Avenue in Shelton during the overnight hours, said Shelton Police Det. Richard Bango. 12-Year-Old Hit By SUV Crossing Old Nyack Turnpike A 12-year-old boy was struck by a vehicle Wednesday as he crossed Old Nyack Turnpike. The incident took place around 5:12 p.m. when the boy, who lived in the area, was crossing the roadway in Chestnut Ridge and was struck by a 2016 Nissan Rogue. The driver of the vehicle, a 57-year-old female from West Nyack, remained on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, police said. Halloween Night Bridgeport Shooting Victim Dies A 28-year-old man has died after being shot six times on Halloween in an incident that also left a local mother of two dead. David Belle of Bridgeport died at St. Vincent’s Medical Center Tuesday night following numerous surgeries, said Av Harris, spokesman for the Bridgeport Police Department. Middletown Drug Sweep Targeting Street-Level Dealers Nets 10 New Arrests The Middletown Police Department arrested 10 people in over the past few days in a multi-agency operation aimed at street-level dealers and their suppliers throughout the area. The department made the announcement on Tuesday, at the same time of three additional pending arrests, bringing the total number of individuals to be charged to 13. The operation was conducted by the Middletown police, along with the New York State Police, and the FBI’s Hudson Valley Safe Streets Task Force. Lack Of Cell Service Forces New Canaan Woman To Leave Home To Seek Help After Electrical Fire A woman had to leave her home in order to find help after a short circuit sparked an electrical fire and a power outage because she was unable to get cell phone service in northeast New Canaan. Poughkeepsie Shooting Victim Dies In Hospital A 20-year-old local man who was shot on Monday in Poughkeepsie has died from his wound. Jaquain Johnson of Poughkeepsie was shot around 3:42 a.m. Monday in the area of Mill Street and Garden Street, said Det. Lt. Matt Clark. Responding officers found Johnson, formerly from the Bronx, shot once in the chest lying in the middle of the westbound lanes of the arterial highway.
