Fire Breaks Out At Former Restaurant Site In Town Of Wallkill An early morning fire destroyed the former site of a restaurant in the area.The two-alarm fire, which started around 4:30 a.m. Thursday at the former site of the closed Rusty Nail off Dunning Road, was fully involved when the first arriving fire units from the Mechanicstown Fire Department arrived on the scene. Due to the large nature of the fire, part of Dunning Road was closed until later in the morning as crews works to douse the flames that consumed the building. 12-Year-Old Hit By SUV Crossing Old Nyack Turnpike A 12-year-old boy was struck by a vehicle Wednesday as he crossed Old Nyack Turnpike. The incident took place around 5:12 p.m. when the boy, who lived in the area, was crossing the roadway in Chestnut Ridge and was struck by a 2016 Nissan Rogue. Halloween Night Bridgeport Shooting Victim Dies A 28-year-old man has died after being shot six times on Halloween in an incident that also left a local mother of two dead. David Belle of Bridgeport died at St. Vincent’s Medical Center Tuesday night following numerous surgeries, said Av Harris, spokesman for the Bridgeport Police Department. Poughkeepsie Shooting Victim Dies In Hospital A 20-year-old local man who was shot on Monday in Poughkeepsie has died from his wound. Jaquain Johnson of Poughkeepsie was shot around 3:42 a.m. Monday in the area of  Mill Street and Garden Street, said Det. Lt. Matt Clark. Responding officers found Johnson, formerly from the Bronx, shot once in the chest lying in the middle of the westbound lanes of the arterial highway.
