The incident took place around 1:36 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, when SipStirs, at 1053 Post Road, notified Darien Police they had received an email, said Darien Police. The complainant informed officers that he received an email from an unknown party indicating that an explosive device had been secreted at that address. Wind, Downed Trees Knock Out Power In Rockland Parts of Rockland are without power this morning following high winds Monday night that knocked down trees and utility lines. The most affected areas included Chestnut Ridge, Bardonia, and Pearl River, with more than 191 customers without power. Two Charged With DWI In Rockland Sheriff Stops Two area residents were nabbed for aggravated DWI after being stopped for a traffic violation by the Rockland County Sheriff's Office. Jean Eddyson, 35, of Spring Valley was busted for DWI around 3:53 a.m. Monday after being stopped for a traffic violation on Route 45. During the stop, he was found to be intoxicated and arrested, the Rockland County Sheriff's Office said. Eddyson was charged with aggravated DWI with a blood alcohol level higher than 0.18 percent and DWI. They were released on a summons to appear in court on Jan. 8, 2019. Pickup Truck, Range Rover Stolen From Driveway In Greenwich A local resident had not one but two vehicles stolen out of a driveway in Greenwich early Monday. Greenwich police said the Woodside Drive resident reported a 2015 Chevy K1500 pickup truck and a 2016 Range Rover, both which had the key devices inside, and were unlocked, were stolen sometime overnight.  The victim was second in the past couple days to have a vehicle stolen. On Friday, a 2015 Cadillac Escalade parked behind Richard’s on Greenwich Avenue, with the keys inside, was stolen when the owner returned. Man With Active Warrant Taken Into Custody In Norwalk During Darien Traffic Stop A man wanted on a bench warrant for failure to appear was nabbed during a traffic stop. Steven E. Vasquez, 24, of Norwalk, was arrested Tuesday, Dec. 11, by Darien Police after the vehicle he was a passenger in was stopped for a traffic violation, Det. James Palmieri said. Vasquez was wanted on a warrant for an arrest in Norwalk for which he failed to appear in court, he said. He posted a $1,000 bond and was released with a new court date of Dec. 21.

Man Accused Of Starving, Shooting Horses At Farm In Hudson Valley A farmer has been arrested for allegedly starving and then shooting several horses in the Hudson Valley. Peter DePaolo, 62, the owner of Windy Acres Farm in Greenville, was arrested last week after officials learned of the abuse, said Orange County SPCA Law Enforcement Chief Gene Hecht. ID Released For Man Struck, Killed By Metro-North Train Near Darien Metro-North officials have released the identity of a 50-year-old man who was hit and killed by a train last week. John Hickey, 50, of New Canaan, was struck and killed Thursday night near Darien, said Metro-North officials. The incident took place around 7:35 p.m. Dec. 13 at Noroton Heights. The train had departed Grand Central at 6:49 p.m. headed for New Haven. Hickey was pronounced dead at the scene.  MTA Police are investigating.

As of Monday, Dec. 17, Rockland County Department of Health officials said there are 95 confirmed cases and seven suspected cases of measles in the county.
