Flu Deaths Rising In Connecticut It's not too late to get that flu shot as the state's Department of Health reports a rapid and steady rise in the number of cases of flu throughout the state, with the number of deaths increasing as well. In its weekly flu report, the department lists this year's outbreak as "widespread," which means the virus has been detected in at least half of the state, the department said. Nyack Man Arrested With Multiple High-Powered Assault Weapons, Ammo, Cops Say A 66-year-old area man was arrested on multiple weapons charges and possession of marijuana following a joint investigation by numerous agencies that stretched from Las Vegas to Rockland County. Police Search For Shooter Of 27-Year-Old Man In Stratford The Stratford Police Department is asking the public for help in discovering who shot a man several times early Thursday. Police received a report of shots fired around 1:57 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, in the area of Fisher Court in Stratford, said Capt. Paul DosSantos. Woman Sentenced, Ordered To Repay Nearly $250K For Stealing From Ex-Employer In Westchester A 59-year-old woman was sentenced Wednesday to time in state prison for stealing from her Westchester employer. Theresa Casey of Yonkers was sentenced to two to six years after pleading guilty on June 6, 2018, to stealing almost $250,000 from her former employer, the Allan M. Block Agency, a Tarrytown insurance agency, said the Westchester County District Attorney's Office. Man Sleeping Over Pistol-Whipped, Beaten By Friend's Ex-Boyfriend In Home Invasion, Police Say A 22-year-old who was sleeping over at his friend's house was attacked and pistol-whipped by the friend's ex-boyfriend early Thursday morning. Scam Alert: Dutchess Residents Warned Of Letters Requesting Money Dutchess County is warning residents to be aware of private companies offering to retrieve a certified copy of their deed. A company, Property Profile, Inc., has recently mailed letters to residents informing them, that for a fee of $86, the company can retrieve a certified copy of their deed and mail it back to them. Number Of Measles Cases Passes 100 In Rockland For First Time Just when the number of measles cases seemed to stop spreading, Rockland County officials are announcing the number of cases has grown by six for a total of 102 confirmed cases. In addition, there are five suspected cases being investigated, said the Rockland County Department of Health. The outbreak began with visitors to and from Israel in September. Police: Man Faces DUI Charge After Running Stop Sign On Compo Beach Road A Milford man was arrested for driving drunk after allegedly running a stop sign.Lawrence Wydan, 22, was arrested at 9:30 p.m. Dec. 15, 2018, after a Westport police officer observed his vehicle drive through the stop sign at Compo Beach Road and South Compo, said Lt.
