Shelton Man Stabs Roommate, Steps Into Traffic This story has been updated. A man who stabbed his 60-year-old roommate multiple times and then was hit by a vehicle has been arrested for the crime. Carmelo Rivera, 26, of Shelton, was arrested around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, following an investigation into a stabbing and pedestrian struck incident during the early morning hours, said Shelton Police Det. Police: Suspect Nabbed After Teen Planning On Meeting Prostitute Instead Becomes Robbery Victim Police have made an arrest in connection with a teen who was robbed after he made a date to meet with a prostitute. The 19-year-old New Haven teen told Hamden Police police that on Oct. 5, 2018, he was scheduled to meet with a “prostitute” on State Street, but when he arrived he was approached by two men who told him they had a gun and began going through his pockets. Trio Planned Explosive Attack On Muslim Community In Upstate NY, Police Say Three men and a juvenile have been arrested in connection with an alleged conspiracy to use improvised explosive devices against an Islamic community in upstate New York. Greece Police arrested Vincent Vetromile, 19, Andrew Crysel, 18, and Brian Colaneri, 20, over a nine-hour period on Saturday and Sunday for planning to use IED's against the hamlet of Islamberg, located outside of Binghampton, according to 13WHAM News. Two Juveniles Nabbed In Stamford Armed Robbery Stamford police have arrested two juveniles for an October 2018 armed hold-up of a 32-year-old Bridgeport man. The incident took place around 1:25 a.m. Oct. 30 on Ferro Drive, which is located in the eastside Cove neighborhood, said Stamford Police Lt. Thomas Scanlon. Central Connecticut State Plans To Fire Professors Accused Of Sexual Misconduct With Students Central Connecticut State University announced that it is planning on firing two theater professors allegedly involved in sexual misconduct. Following a months-long investigation into the misconduct, President Zulma R. Toro announced Tuesday, Jan. 22 that she plans to fire the two longtime professors for allegedly having inappropriate relationships with more than one student, according to WFSB Eyewitness News 3. Worker Killed After Falling Into Mixing Machine At Area Cheese Company A 41-year-old man was killed after falling into a mixing machine at the Icco Cheese Company in Rockland County. The incident took place around 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 15 at the plant on Olympic Drive in Orangeburg, said Orangetown Police Sgt. James Sullivan. When officers arrived on the scene of the accident they were directed to a mixing machine where they found a male employee, Edwin Nunez, of Paterson, New Jersey, inside of the machine, Sullivan said. Flu Deaths In State Climb Again As the number of flu cases rapidly increased across Connecticut over the past weeks, the number of deaths has also risen to eight in the week ending Jan. 12. According to the state Department of Public Health weekly report, the flu remains widespread across the state, with two new deaths reported for the week. Body Found In Northern Westchester Reservoir Apparent Suicide A body found pulled from a section of the Croton Reservoir in Yorktown on Sunday, Jan. 20 is being handled as an apparent suicide. A rescue crew pulled the body from the waters shortly after it was discovered around 9 a.m. near the intersection of Hunterbrook Road and Baptist Church Road. According to Adam Bosch, a spokesman with the state Department of Environmental Protection, which oversees the watershed area, the death is "being investigated as an apparent suicide," and that no further information would be available, including the person's identity or hometown. One Extricated In Crash Involving Tractor-Trailer On I-684 One person was extricated from a van following a two-vehicle crash that also involved a tractor-trailer on I-684. The crash took place Monday morning, Jan. 21 northbound near I-287 in Purchase, said officials with the Purchase Fire Department. Personnel from Purchase, along with the West Harrison Fire Department, Harrison EMS were dispatched to scene were they extricated the trapped person, the department said. The injured individual was transported to a local hospital for treatment of unknown injuries. The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Man Stabs Teen Son In Wilton Domestic Incident, Police Say A Wilton father stabbed his 18-year-old son in the back following a domestic dispute and a chase through their home. The incident took place around 11 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, when Wilton police were called to a home for a report of a domestic stabbing, said Wilton Police Lt. Robert Kluk. When police arrived on the scene, they found the son outside of the home wearing a blood-stained shirt in the back where he had been stabbed.
