Pistol-Wielding Bridgeport Man Sparks Standoff At Fairfield Bank
An area man and woman are behind bars following an intense police standoff with the man inside a bank where he pulled a pistol on a Fairfield detective while being questioned about a bank fraud incident.
The standoff went down around 4 p.m., Tuesday, April 23, when officers with the Fairfield Police Detective Bureau were conducting an investigation into bank fraud related to the theft of approximately $120,000 from an elderly person from Texas, said Fairfield Lt. John Bucherati.

Danbury Man Killed After Becoming Trapped Under Debris In Partial Barn Collapse
A Danbury man was killed after being trapped under debris during a partial barn collapse, said the Connecticut State Police.
The incident took place around 8:40 a.m., Thursday, April 24, when a barn that was being worked on began to collapse, with workers inside at 81 Litchfield Turnpike in Bethany, said the state police.
When state troopers arrived on the scene they found Joister Pacheco-Attaide, 38, Danbury, trapped under the debris, state police said.

Hit-Run Suspect Nabbed After Pedestrian Struck, Killed In Lynbrook
A Nassau County man has been arrested for allegedly running down an elderly man and then leaving the scene of the fatal accident, said the Nassau County Police.
Harley Dix, 48, of Lynwood, was arrested by the Nassau County Police Homicide Squad following the death that took place around 7:57 p.m.Thursday, April 25, in Lynbrook, said the Nassau County Police.
According to detectives, the man was crossing Merrick Road near Blossom Heath Avenue, when he was struck by a gray Nissan. The vehicle left scene westbound on Merrick Road without stopping, police said.

Motorists, Troopers Team Up To Rescue Loose Beagle On I-84, Closing Down Roadway
Drivers and police banded together to save a beagle named Lupe when he was found wandering on I-84 in Danbury.
The incident took place on Friday, April 19, during rush hour when drivers saw Lupe on the highway, Connecticut State Police said.
"The dog was hit by a vehicle, but did not have any serious injuries," said Trooper Christopher Costella of Troop A, Southbury.
Motorists, worried that Lupe might get run over again, took it upon themselves to use their vehicles to shut down the highway until state police could arrive and help rescue him.
