Woman Severely Injured After Being Struck By Car Crossing Route 9W During Downpour
A 40-year-old woman was severely injured after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Route 9W during a heavy downpour.
The accident took place around 6:50 p.m., Thursday, May 2, while the woman, a resident of Piermont, was crossing the highway near Highland Avenue, said Piermont Police Chief Michael O'Shea.
O'Shea said the woman was hit by a man who was driving north on Route 9W. The woman landed on the vehicle's hood and almost went through the windshield, the chief said.
She received severe head trauma, broken bones in her arms and legs, and numerous other injuries, O'Shea added.

Community Remembers Whole Foods Worker, 24, Killed In Westchester Crash
As a memorial grows to pay tribute to a 24-year-old mother and aspiring rapper killed in a crash in Westchester, friends are attempting to raise funds for her child.
Emajee Jones, of Yonkers, died following the crash on Saturday, April 27, when the car she was driving hit a concrete barrier on Trinity Street, police said.
Passengers, including Jones' 3-year-old daughter, another child and a friend were not hurt.
At the crash site, candles in the form of an E have been placed to honor Jones as " loving, caring, full of excitement, and a colorful personality," they said on a GoFundMe post.

Masked, Armed Man Attempts To Rob Dunkin' Donuts In Norwalk
Police are searching for a masked man who entered the Dunkin' Donuts and demanded money while displaying a gun.
The incident took place around 9 p.m., Wednesday, May 1, at 470 Main Ave., said Norwalk Police Lt. Terrence Blake.
During the incident, the clerk told the suspect that the register could not be opened, at which time the suspect fled the scene on foot, Blake said.
Responding officers searched the area with a K9, however, the suspect was not located, he added.

Man Found Dead Near Off-Ramp On I-84
An area man was found dead on an off-ramp of I-84 in Danbury by a worker in the area, said the Connecticut State Police.
The body of Herbert Ruehle, 63, of Carmel, was discovered around 11:10 a.m., Thursday, May 2, after troopers from Troop A-Southbury were dispatched to the area of I-84 eastbound, Exit 4 on-ramp in Danbury for a suspicious incident, said the Connecticut Stae Police.
Troopers along with detectives from Western District Major Crimes Squad arrived on scene and determined that there was no evidence of foul play and identified the deceased, state police said.
