Man Found In Peconic River In Riverhead May Be Drowning Victim
An unidentified man found dead Saturday, June 15, in the Peconic River in Riverhead, may have drowned, Suffolk County police said.
Riverhead police, along with Suffolk County detectives, were called to Grangabel Park to investigate a possible drowning about 4:20 p.m.
Once on the scene, officers found the body of an unidentified man in the Peconic River, Suffolk police said.
As of Monday, June 17, police had not identified the man.
Police said the incident was not criminal in nature, and the man may have drowned. The investigation is ongoing.
Child Suffers Serious Injury After Getting Hit On Sidewalk By Car In Westchester
Two pedestrians were hit and injured, one seriously, by a driver who swerved to avoid a stopped vehicle in White Plains.
The incident took place around 4 p.m., Sunday, June 16, when two siblings, one a 22-year-old woman, and one a child, were standing on the sidewalk near 271 W. Post Road, when a driver traveling west allegedly swerved around a stopped vehicle, jumped the sidewalk, hitting the two pedestrians, and then a tree, said White Plains Police Capt. James Spencer.

Former Danbury High School Safety Advocate Accused Of Providing Pot To Students

A former Danbury High School employee has been arrested for allegedly providing marijuana to several juveniles, including students.
Glenn Davis, 41, turned himself into police on Friday, June 14, after a warrant was issued for his arrest stemming from a complaint made on May 8, said the Danbury Police Department.
Davis, who was employed as a student safety advocate, was arrested following an investigation by the Special Victims Units after receiving the complaint, police said.

Two Men Nabbed For Beating, Attempting To Rob Victim In Town Of Poughkeepsie, Police Say
Two men were arrested for allegedly beating up and attempting to rob another man on the Dutchess Turnpike.
Robert Brown, 22, and Randy Valladares, 19, both of Poughkeepsie, were nabbed by Town of Poughkeepsie police after a report of an attempted robbery around 1:50 a.m., on Saturday, 15, said Town of Poughkeepsie Police Capt. Kevin Faber.

Year-Long Investigation Leads To Auto Theft Charge For Area Man
A Pleasant Valley man was arrested for alleged auto theft following a yearlong investigation into the incident.
Matthew R. Mcclay, 22, was charged Friday, June 14, in connection with the incident that allegedly took place in April 2018, said Rhinebeck Police Sgt. Peter Dunn.
Mcclay was charged with grand larceny, criminal possession of stolen property, forgery of a vehicle ID number, auto stripping and unauthorized use of a vehicle, Dunn said.
He was arraigned and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail on $1,500 cash bail. Mcclay is scheduled to appear in court on July 10.
