New Power Outage Update: Nearly 100 Percent Restored On Long Island
Nearly all customers should have power back as of noon Wednesday, July 3 after an army of tree trimmers and repair crews descended on the island following a series of weekend storms that left more than 95,000 homes and businesses without power.
In fact, there was so much damage, especially in Suffolk County, that by the end of the storm restoration, crews removed a total of 850 trees associated with the storm on Sunday, June 30, PSEG Long Island officials.

Elmont Man Attempts To Sexually Abuse Girl After Breaking Into Home, Police Say
An Elmont man was nabbed for breaking into an apartment and attempting to sexually abuse a juvenile girl who managed to escape.
The attack took place around 4:15 a.m., Sunday, June 30, when Alex Rivera, 24, allegedly entered an Elmont apartment and inappropriately touched the victim against her will, Nassau County Police said.
The victim fought with Rivera to get away several times before successfully escaping and alerting her parents of the intruder, police said.
Once the parents were awake, Rivera ran away in an unknown direction, according to police.

Woodbury Felon Convicted Of Shooting Man During Violent Middle Island Armed Robbery
A Long Island felon was found guilty by a federal jury in Central Islip for shooting a man during a violent armed robbery on Middle Island.
Spencer Jean, 33, of Westbury, was found guilty of robbing a marijuana trafficker, discharging a firearm during a crime of violence, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, conspiracy to obstruct justice and obstruction of justice, said John Marzulli, of U.S. Attorney's Office in Manhattan.
