Injured Man Rescued From Woods In Commack Woods An injured man was rescued from the woods in Commack by EMS and ambulance corps members who responded to a report of a man with a traumatic injury, said the Commack Volunteer Ambulance Corps. The incident took place 6:41 p.m., Tuesday, July 9, when the man was found about 100 feet in the woods near Schuyler Drive, with non-life threatening injuries, the department said. Commack EMS and ambulance corps members used a stokes basket to help carry the injured man out of the woods.  Once secured, the man was transported to Southside hospital for treatment.

Bank Robber Nabbed Minutes After Crime, Bridgeport Police Say Police grabbed an armed bank robber just minutes after the alleged crime. The incident took place around 8:55 a.m., Wednesday, July 10, at the People's United Bank at 850 Main St., in Bridgeport, said Terron Jones, spokesman for the Bridgeport Police Department. Police responded to the bank after an employee called 911 to report the robbery. The suspect was apprehended a short distance away, Jones said. No further information has been immediately released. The incident took place around 12:45 p.m., Tuesday, July 9, at the business at 74 Mall Drive, said the Suffolk County Police. The 37-year-old Hauppauge man was attempting to add ingredients into a 20,000-pound tank of chocolate when he fell into the vat, said the Suffolk County Police. He was taken by Commack Rescue Ambulance to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of minor injuries, police said.
