Teen Killed, Two Injured In I-95 Crash, Police Say
An 18-year-old was killed and two others injured during a crash on I-95 in Fairfield County after the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle.
Destiny Arriaga, of Bridgeport, died following the crash that took place around 9:20 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 8, when the driver, of the Honda Accord she was a passenger in went down an embankment on I-95 in Stratford, said the Connecticut State Police.
The driver, Gilberto Jose Carpio, of Bridgeport, allegedly hit a metal beam guard rail on the right shoulder, sending the car hurtling down a steep embankment, state police said.

Man Held In Connection With Fatal Norwalk Stabbing Of Ex-HS Basketball Star

Police have arrested a man in connection with the fatal stabbing of a former high school basketball star in Norwalk.
Sheldon Frierson, 29 of Norwalk, was identified as a person of interest in the death of Michael Moody, 29, of Norwalk, who was found stabbed to death outside his Fairfield Avenue home on Thursday, Aug. 8, said Norwalk Police Lt. Terrence Blake.
Known as a talented basketball player, Moody played at Brien McMahon High School in Norwalk, where he was known for his "smooth," jump shot, was stabbed around 1 a.m. Thursday, Norwalk Police said.

Man Sentenced For Violent Rape Of Wife With Children In Room In Spring Valley
A 31-year-old man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for violently raping his wife in Spring Valley with two children in the room.
Holger Lema-Yaucan, of Brooklyn, was sentenced on Thursday, Aug. 8, after a jury found him guilty of rape, sexual abuse, strangulation, aggravated criminal contempt, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, said Acting Rockland County District Attorney Kevin Gilleece.
Lema-Yaucan will also be required to register for 20 years of post-release supervision, the DA's Office said.
