Six, Including Pair In 80s, Caught Engaging In Sexual Activity In Fairfield Woods, Police Say
After receiving complaints of people engaging in lewd and sexual activity in a wooded area in Fairfield, police made six arrests, including two people in their 80s, following surveillance of the area, said the Fairfield Police.
The surveillance -- conducted by the department's Special Services and Quality of Life units, on Friday, Aug. 19, in the Grace Richardson Open Space area at the intersection of Congress Street and Morehouse Highway, captured the six allegedly committing several violations, said Fairfield Police Capt. A Fairfield County man who is facing manslaughter charges on the Caribbean Island of Anguilla for killing a hotel worker told reporters the whole event is a "nightmare."

Fire Department Captain Arrested For Allegedly Stealing $15K In Funds, Bridgeport Police Say
A captain in the Bridgeport Fire Department has been arrested for allegedly stealing more than $15,000 in funds from the department's Firebirds organization.
Darrien L. Penix, 43, of New Britain, was arrested on Monday, Aug. 19, by Bridgeport Police following an investigation into the theft, said Terron Jones, spokesman for the Bridgeport Police.

Suspect Nabbed In Miller Place Bank Robbery
A man wanted for an alleged bank robbery at a busy Long Island shopping center has been arrested by police.
Raymond Peruggi, 29, was nabbed around 8:55 p.m., Monday, Aug. 19, in Mastic Beach for allegedly robbing the Miller Place Chase Bank, on Route 25A, earlier in the month, Suffolk County Police said.
Peruggi, address unknown, was arrested following an investigation into the Monday, Aug. 12 robbery of the Chase Bank in the shopping center anchored by Stop & Shop.

Long Island Man, 25, Kept Dog Locked In Cage In Dark Basement, SPCA Says
A Long Island man has been arrested for animal cruelty for keeping a pit bull in a feces and urine-filled metal crate in a dark basement.
Dashawn Belcher, 25, of Central Islip, was arrested on Friday, Aug. 16, after the female pit bull was found starved, with untreated open sores in the metal crate of a Cypress Street home, said the Suffolk County SPCA.
