Long Island Expressway Reopens After Five-Vehicle Crash With Injuries Click here for an updated story: Drivers ID'd In Crash That Caused Chain-Reaction, Hours-Long LI Expressway Closure The Long Island Expressway has reopened in Suffolk County following a five-vehicle crash that injured five people. The crash took place around 6:53 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 5, westbound near Exit 53, said the Suffolk County Police. Police did not know the extent of the injuries but did say all five drivers were taken to area hospitals. The crash is under investigation by detectives. This continues to be a developing story. Arrest Made In Robbery Of Elderly Fairfield County Woman At Mall Police detectives charged a 25-year-old man for robbing an elderly woman at the Westfield Trumbull Mall in August and stealing her car. Jordan Savage, of Waterbury, was apprehended when he was stopped by Watertown Police on Friday, Nov. 1, and arrested without incident after they learned of the active warrant for his arrest out of Trumbull, said Trumbull Police Lt. Brian Weir. Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing On Long Island Beach A small plane made an emergency landing on a Long Island beach, just miles from an airport, according to police. The incident took place around 2:25 p.m., Monday, Nov. 4, when Nassau County Police received a call that a plane needed to make an emergency landing on the beach in Point Lookout, police said. Officials said the Cessna 150 was able to land successfully on the beach near Garden City Avenue, police said. The plane was reportedly headed for Long Island MacArthur Airport in Islip. Employees At Long Island Bar Robbed At Gunpoint, Police Say Two employees of a popular Long Island bar were robbed at gunpoint by two men. Suffolk County Police said the incident took place around 430 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 2, at Vanderbilts Wharf at 445s Vanderbilt Blvd., in Oakdale. According to police, the two employees left the business when they were approached by two men brandishing what appeared to be handguns and demanding jewelry and cash. Man Caught Stealing From Staples High School Boys Locker Room, Police Say A 46-year-old man was arrested after allegedly stealing from multiple items from the Staples High School’s boys locker room last month. Westport police were notified of the thefts around 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8, when they received multiple reports of thefts from the boys locker room, said Westport Police Lt. Anthony Prezioso. Man Slams Into Pole While Driving Drunk At More Than Twice Legal Limit, Police Say A man was arrested for felony DWI after he allegedly crashed his vehicle while driving at more than twice the legal limit in Ulster County. Christopher M. Group Of Teens Assault Man Near Pizzeria In Black Rock Police are searching for a group of teens who allegedly robbed a man walking home from a pizza restaurant in the Black Rock area. The alleged robbery took place around 6:56 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 31, when a 31-year-old man was walking home from Fire Engine Pizza Company when he was confronted by four teens, said Terron Jones spokesman for the Bridgeport Police Department. Photos: Three Dozen Firefighters Battle Blaze At Norwalk Home More than 35 firefighters responded to a Norwalk house fire that left one person without a home. The fire began around 8:45 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 2, at a home on Ravenwood Road, said Norwalk Fire Deputy Chief Todd Smith. When Norwalk firefighters arrived on the scene they found a raised, ranch house with fire billowing through the roof, the front door, and from the right side of the house, Smith said. Popular Area Bar Closed All Day For A New Movie Production Another movie will be filming in the Hudson Valley at a popular bar, but nobody is sure which one. The Golden Rail Ale House in Newburgh surprised all with an announcement on Facebook that it would be closed all day on Monday, Nov. 4, for the filming of "yet another movie."
