Pedestrian, 77, Seriously Injured After Being Hit By Vehicle In Area
A 77-year-old Ulster County pedestrian was seriously injured after being hit by a vehicle.
Michael Heller, of Marlborough, was injured around 7:30 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 14, while jogging along Route 9W in the area of Bloom Street, Town Of Marlborough Police said.
Heller was attempting to cross Route 9W from the West when he was struck by a southbound Hyundai, operated by Maureen Moreno, 38, of Milton, police said.
Heller was transported to Mid Hudson Regional Hospital with serious injuries, the police department said.

'Probie' Helps Deliver Baby Girl On First Run As Firefighter In Westchester
A "probie" (probationary) firefighter got more than he bargained for on his first shift, the delivery of a baby.
The delivery took place around 7:27 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 14, on Riverdale Avenue, said Yonkers Deputy Chief Joseph Citrone.
According to the chief, members from engine company 303 from Station 3 on Vark St. including Capt. Chris Canfield, FF Tom Kilduff, FF Tom Halpin, and Probationary FF Michael Iacovello delivered a baby girl.
"That was PFF Iacovello’s first tour in the firehouse," Citrone said.

Four Arrested On Weapons, Drug Charges Following Long Island Traffic Stop
Four Long Island residents were arrested on various drug and weapons charges following a traffic stop.
Rhyeam Atkinson, 39, Julia Lopez, 45, Jeffrey Appiagyei, 38, all of Hempstead, and Cholena Callaway, 34, of Baldwin, were arrested around 2:10 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 12, after officers observed a blue 2002 Chevrolet Impala committed various traffic infractions in Roosevelt, said Nassau County Police.

Cuomo Pledges $680K For License Plate Readers In Monsey, New Square
Just weeks following two hate-fueled attacks in New Square and Monsey, Gov. Governor Andrew Cuomo announced $680,000 in funding to help pay for license plate readers in Rockland County.
The readers, one which was used to catch the man who attacked a group of Jewish worshipers on Dec. 28, will be used to enhance security and further protect Rockland communities, the governor said.
The attacker used a machete to attack six people, leaving a 72-year-old man in a coma with a fractured skull.
