Man Nabbed After Awakening Homeowners During Burglary At Fairfield Home, Police Say A Fairfield County man has been arrested for allegedly breaking into an occupied home and then taking police on a chase. Alberto Rosado, 30, of Bridgeport, was arrested on Saturday, Jan. 18, by Fairfield Police following the alleged burglary on South Benson Road, said Fairfield Police Capt. Robert Kalamaras. The incident took place around 8:15 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 21, in Spring Valley at Route 59 and New Clarkstown Road. Reportedly one person was inside the vehicle. Additional details were not immediately available. There has been no report on the extent of injuries.

ID Released For 8-Year-Old Who Died After Falling In Driveway Of Long Island Home An 8-year-old boy who died after falling in the driveway of his Long Island home has been identified by the family. Thomas Valva, of Center Moriches, died around 9:40 a.m., Friday, Jan. 17, said Suffolk County Police. Police found the boy after responding to the home on Bittersweet Lane for a report of a child who fell in a driveway. Valva was taken to Long Island Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Suffolk County Medical Examiner is performing an autopsy. The incident is under investigation by the Suffolk County Police.

Melleisa Alvaranga, of Brooklyn, was arrested on Thursday, Jan. 16, after police responded to a business on Greenwich Avenue for a report of a woman attempting to pass counterfeit money, said the Greenwich Police. Two Nabbed Attempting To Steal Mail On Long Island, Police Say Two men have been arrested for allegedly stealing mail from a mailbox on Long Beach. The men were caught Wednesday, Jan. 15, trying to remove mail from a box on East Park Avenue and Monroe Boulevard in Long Beach, according to News 12 Long Island. When caught, the men fled in a BMW, crashing into several vehicles, including a police car. Following a crash, the men jumped out of the vehicle and ran down Roosevelt Boulevard before officers were able to capture them. Police said the investigation is continuing.
