Couple Hit Child With Belt, Phone Cords, Police Say
A couple is behind bars after allegedly beating a child with a belt and other abuses.
Fairfield County residents Jose Valenzuela, 35, and Liseth Castillo-Cruz, 31, both of Danbury, were arrested on Wednesday, Feb. 26, on arrest warrants following an investigation that began in January, said the Norwalk Police.
According to police, the Special Victims Unit received a complaint on Jan. 16, of child abuse from the Connecticut Department of Child and Family.

ID Released For Suspected Mercedes Teen Carjacker Shot, Killed By Nassau County PD After Chase
A 19-year-old who was shot and killed by Nassau County police after allegedly stealing a Mercedes at gunpoint has been identified.
Matthew Felix, of Cambria Heights, Queens, was shot around 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 25, as he fled from Nassau County police who had tracked him to his home where the stolen vehicle was found, Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder said.
During a press conference, Ryder said Felix had arranged on social media to buy a Mercedes from another person and set up a meeting in Garden City.

Teen Busted With Stolen Gun, High-Capacity Clip, Police Say
A 19-year-old Fairfield County teen who was already facing gun charges was busted again for allegedly having a stolen gun and for possession of pot.
Elvis Almengot-Castillo, of Stamford, was arrested on Monday, Feb. 24, after officers with the Stamford Police Narc Squad received a tip the teen was selling drugs and was in possession of a gun, said Stamford Police Capt. Richard Conklin.
After receiving a search warrant, members of the squad stopped Almegot-Castillo and conducted a search where they came up with $300 in cash, but no drugs or guns, Conklin said.
