Covid-19: Popular Rockland Restaurant Announces Temporary Closure A longtime favorite Italian restaurant known for its handmade pasta and upscale food has decided to close its doors, at least temporarily. Rockland County's Oscar's Italian Restaurant, located in Blauvelt, owned by chef Oscar Romano since 2012, will close its doors immediately due to financial stresses from being closed during the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Police Ask Public's Help In Identifying Extended Stay Hotel Burglary Suspect Police are asking the public for help identifying a suspect wanted in a burglary at a Fairfield County hotel. The burglary occurred on Tuesday, June 2, around 5 a.m. at the Extended Stay Hotel at 400 Main Ave., in Norwalk. During the crime, cash was stolen from the register, and a purse and computer were stolen from a guests’ room, said Lt. Jared Zwickler. Anyone who recognizes the individual pictured, or who has information regarding the crime is asked to contact Detective Lindsey Taylor at 203-854-3183 or the Norwalk Police Tip Line at 203-854-3111.

Protest Draws Thousands To Poughkeepsie Peace was the message as thousands of protesters took to the streets in Dutchess County to protest the death of George Floyd, a Minnesota man who died after an officer allegedly detained him. Painted Yellow Crosses Not Related To Long Island Protests, Police Say Yellow crosses painted on items throughout Long Island are not being used to identify locations where bricks should be left to commit criminal acts amid protests, police say. Man Accused Of Raping, Stabbing 41-Year-Old Woman At Area Apartment Complex A 35-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping and stabbing a 41-year-old woman. The incident took place in Orange County around 3:35 a.m., Wednesday, June 3, when the town of Wallkill Police responded to a report of an assault at the Cambridge Manor Apartments. Cause Of House Fire Under Investigation In Fairfield County Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish a fire found in a wall of a home in the area. The call for the fire in the Fairfield County home came in around 8:32 p.m., Tuesday, June 2, on Turkey Hill Lane in Westport, said Assistant Fire Chief Jeffrey Gootman. Westport firefighters responded with four engines, a ladder truck, Gootman said. "Arriving units found smoke in the basement and the first floor," he said.
