She spent 17 years at Florida Today in Melbourne, Florida as a general assignment reporter, crime reporter, entertainment reporter and restaurant critic. She worked four years at Hometown News as a general assignment reporter, then another two years at Spacecoast Daily in Cocoa Beach, Florida. Republicans Prevail In Two LI Congressional Districts With Third Race Too Close To Call Republicans have prevailed in two of the three Congressional districts on Long Island, easily winning both, with the third district too close to call. On Wednesday morning, Nov. 4 with the counting nearly complete, Congressman Lee Zeldin handily won a fourth term in the House of Representatives 1st District covering central and eastern Suffolk County by defeating Democratic challenger Nancy Goroff. Supervisor At Fairfield Post Office Admits To Stealing Cash From Mail A 37-year-old area woman pleaded guilty to stealing cash and other items from mail while employed as a postal supervisor at the Town of Fairfield Post Office. Jessica Giles, 37, of West Haven, waived her right to be indicted and pleaded guilty on Tuesday, Nov. 3, to the theft of mail by a postal employee, said John H. School Bus Clipped By Vehicle, Hits Long Island Home A small school bus crashed into a Long Island house after another vehicle clipped the bus. The incident took place around 4:50 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 3 in Nassau County, at the intersection of Bayview Avenue and Peninsula Boulevard in Cedarhurst. No students were on board and the driver was not injured, said Nassau County Police. The bus was from the Lawrence School District. The home was deemed safe with no major structural damage, officials said. The crash did cause a short traffic backup during rush hour.

Know Them? Police Seek To ID Couple In Fairfield County Commercial Burglaries Police are asking the public for help identifying a man and a woman who allegedly burglarized two downtown businesses in Westport. The burglaries took place on Friday, Oct. 23, said Westport Police Lt. Anthony Prezioso. He declined to name the businesses as the investigation is ongoing, During the burglaries, the two allegedly stole two televisions and some audio equipment, he said. Covid-19: District In Fairfield County Has Had Cases In Six Of Nine Schools A new case of COVID-19 brings the number of schools affected by the virus to six of nine schools at a school district in Fairfield County. The case at Farmingville Elementary School, located in Ridgefield, was announced in a letter on Monday, Nov. 2, by the Ridgefield Public School District's COVID-19 Health and Safety Compliance Liaison Aaron Crook and emailed by Superintendent of Schools Susie Da Silva to parents and staff. Jewelry Store Heist Thwarted By Panic Button Alarm Two armed suspects attempting to rob an area jewelry store were thwarted by a panic button alarm. Police received notification of a panic alarm around 2:50 a.m., Monday, Nov. 2, in Ulster County at the Imperial Jewelers located at New Paltz Plaza located in the Town of New Paltz. When officers arrived on the scene, they observed two masked subjects inside the establishment that were armed with weapons, said New Paltz Lt. Scott D. Butler. Man Found Dead At Park In Rockland Police are investigating the discovery of a dead man at a park in the area. Dominique Mesadieu, 50, of Spring Valley, was found around 7:30 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 3, by a Spring Valley employee in Memorial Park, according to police. Long Island Teen Nabbed For Driving Stolen Vehicle, Taking Cops On Chase, Police Say A Long Island teen was arrested for allegedly driving a stolen vehicle and taking police on a chase before being apprehended. Ivan Gutierrez-Alcantara, 19, of Freeport, was arrested on Friday, Oct. 30, for an incident that took place around 12:30 p.m. that day in Freeport, said Nassau County Police. According to detectives, officers observed a 2018 Ford Escape traveling on North Long Beach Road. Police Search For Duo Who Allegedly Shot Long Island Man As He Entered His Vehicle Police are searching for two men who allegedly shot another man as he entered his vehicle. The incident took place around 2:16 a.m., Sunday, Nov. 1, in Roosevelt at 209 Nassau Road, said the Nassau County Police. Boater In 'Grave Condition' After Found Floating In Stamford Harbor A man who was spotted floating in the water in the Stamford Harbor in Stamford is in grave condition after being rescued by a resident. The incident took place around 8:30 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 3, on Ocean Drive West in the Shippan neighborhood area of Stamford, said Stamford Police Capt. Richard Conklin. The man, who lives on a sailboat in the harbor uses a canoe to go and forth from the mainland, Conklin said. Residents spotted the overturned canoe and one swan out to rescue the man.
