Woman Critical After Struck By Vehicle In East Orange: Authorities A 42-year-old Newark woman is in critical condition after she was struck by a vehicle on Sunday, Jan. 5 in East Orange, authorities said. The woman was crossing the street on the red light at South Orange Avenue and Hillcrest Terrace when she was hit by a motorist, a spokesperson for the city said. She was transported to a nearby hospital in critical, but stable condition, authorities said.

Union City Police Sergeant Filed False Report: Prosecutor A 49-year-old Union City police sergeant was arrested and charged on Tuesday, Jan. 7 with filing a false report that led to a person being arrested last August, authorities said. On Thursday, Aug. 8, Ruben Rodriguez reported being injured during an encounter with a person at the Union City Police Department, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. Gas Leak Forces Evacuation Of Clark Town Hall: Police Clark Town Hall had to be evacuated due to a gas leak on the morning of Wednesday, Jan. 8, authorities said. Officers, firefighters and the Elizabethtown gas company responded to Clark Town Hall for a report of an odor of gas, Clark police said. All personnel were evacuated and removed as a safety precaution, police said. The source of the gas leak was found and being isolated for repairs, police said. Residents are advised to avoid the area, police said.

Pedestrian Critical After Struck By Vehicle On Route 9 In Howell: Prosecutor A 77-year-old Howell Township man is in critical condition after he was struck by a vehicle on Route 9 on the early morning of Tuesday, Jan. 7, authorities said. At 4:51 a.m., Howell Township police responded to Route 9 and Strickland Road after a driver, who was traveling southbound in the right lane of Route 9, collided with the man, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond Santiago said. The man remains hospitalized with multiple injuries, Santiago said. The driver remained on scene and was cooperative with law enforcement officers, Santiago said.

Drunk Driver Crashes Into Police Cars On New Year's: Old Bridge PD A 24-year-old man was arrested and charged with drunk driving in Old Bridge after he crashed into two police cars on Wednesday, Jan. 1, authorities said. At 1:43 a.m. officers were investigating a traffic crash on Route 35 when the driver, who was not identified, slammed into the rear of a patrol vehicle, which in turn hit into the patrol vehicle in front of it, Old Bridge police said. Homeless Man Robs Union County Bank: Cops A 64-year-old man was arrested and charged after he robbed a TD Bank in Union Township on Monday, Jan. 6, authorities said. At 11:22 a.m., officers responded to a hold-up alarm at the TD Bank at 995 Morris Ave, Union Township police said. An investigation revealed Kevin Thompson motioned to a bank teller as if he had a gun while stating it was a robbery and made off with $500, police said. One Person Killed In Haddon Township Crash: Police One person was killed in a crash in Haddon Township on Tuesday, Jan. 7, authorities said. At 6:30 a.m., officers responded to a single-car crash at Route 130 and Nicholson Road, Haddon Township police said. Another person sustained injuries in the crash, police said. Man Harassed Candy Store, Stole $90: Denville PD A 26-year-old Vineland man was arrested and charged on Thursday, Jan. 2, after he was harassing employees at a candy store in Denville, authorities said. At 11:35 a.m. officers responded to Sweet Expressions by Geri at 26 Broadway on a report of a man, Markeese Brazelis, bothering staff and acting unruly, Denville police said. Brazelis had entered the staff area and stole $90 in cash, police said. Brazelis was located walking in the center of town and ultimately placed under arrest for the theft of the cash, police said. He was charged with theft by unlawful taking, police said.

Warren County Man Sexually Assaulted 9-Year-Old: Prosecutor A 32-year-old Washington man was arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a 9-year-old on Monday, Jan. 6, authorities said. The victim was known to Michael Estler, the Warren County Prosecutor's Office said. Authorities did not say when the assault occurred. Estler was charged aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, lewdness and endangering the welfare of a child, authorities said.

Overturned Truck Closes Lanes On Route 202: Njdot A tractor trailer overturned on Route 202 in Somerset County on the afternoon of Tuesday, Jan. 7, authorities said. The tractor trailer overturned on Route 202 southbound in Raritan near Route 206 and Route 28, the New Jersey Department of Transportation said. All lanes are closed, the DOT said.
