Man Nabbed Driving Stolen Vehicle During Routine Traffic Stop On I-87, State Police Say
A 35-year-old man was arrested by New York State Police for allegedly driving a stolen vehicle during a routine traffic stop.
Carmelo C. Murray, age 35, of Brooklyn, was arrested around 2:20 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 9, following the stop on I-87 in the Village of Suffern.
During an investigation following, it was determined that the vehicle, a 2015 Toyota Sienna van, was reported stolen out of New York City, state police said.
Murray did not have permission to possess the vehicle and could not provide the owner’s name, state police said.

Felon On Probation Stopped While Driving 115 MPH With Loaded Gun On I-95, Police Say
A Fairfield County man on probation was allegedly busted with a loaded gun after being stopped for driving 115 mph on I-95.
Giovanni Candelario, 27, of Bridgeport, was arrested on Saturday, Jan. 9, after his white 2014 Acura IIx20, was spotted traveling in excess of 115 mph and weaving through traffic on Route 8 South, south of Exit 8 in Bridgeport, said the Connecticut State Police.
When stopped on I-95, officers found that Candelario had a suspended driver's license and that he was on probation and on the Deadly Weapon Registry, police said.

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused another festival to be canceled this year, this time, the Sun Wine & Food Fest at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Connecticut.

CT Accountant Sentenced For Tax Evasion, Obstruction Offenses
A Connecticut man has been sentenced to 30 months in prison for tax evasion and obstruction offenses.
New Haven County resident Louis DeMaio, age 70, of Guilford, was sentenced Tuesday, Jan. 12, to prison time, followed by one year of supervised release, said John Durham US Attorney for the District of Connecticut.
According to court documents and statements made in court, DeMaio was employed as an accountant in East Haven and, from approximately 2010 to 2018, also operated Almatt LLC, a temporary employment agency that provided day laborers to construction companies.
