Drunk Driver Crashes Vehicle Into Long Island Home, Police Say
A Long Island man was arrested after hitting a residence, causing significant damage, with his vehicle while allegedly driving under the influence.
Robert Cunningham, age 53, of Levittown, was arrested following the incident around 4:45 p.m., Tuesday, March 9 in Levittown, said Nassau County Police.
According to officers, Cunningham was driving his car on Polaris Drive, when he left the roadway and struck a home causing significant damage to the residence, police said.
Upon police arrival, Cunningham was found to be in an intoxicated condition and was placed into custody, police said.

Woman Dies After Jumping From Bridge In Area
A woman was killed after jumping from an area bridge.
Dutchess County resident Nicole H. Gill, age 53, of Red Hook, was killed after jumping from the Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge on Monday, March 8, said AJ Hicks of the New York State Police.
According to Hicks, the department responded to a report of a suicide attempt at the bridge around 4:20 p.m.
State police, along with the town of Ulster Police Department, Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, the town of Red Hook Police Department, and the Rhinebeck Fire Department responded to the bridge for a recovery effort, he said.

Man With Stolen Handgun Fights With Police, Is Tased Before Arrest In Area, Police Say
A 26-year-old man who allegedly had a stolen loaded handgun in his waistband fought with police who attempted to arrest him during a traffic stop in the area.
Rawl D. Deslandes, of the City of Poughkeepsie, was arrested around 2:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 9, after City of Poughkeepsie officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Main and White streets, said Captain Richard Smith.
During the investigative stages of the stop, Deslandes was found to be in possession of a stolen loaded handgun, in his waistband, Smith said.
