She spent 17 years at Florida Today in Melbourne, Florida as a general assignment reporter, crime reporter, entertainment reporter and restaurant critic. She worked four years at Hometown News as a general assignment reporter, then another two years at Spacecoast Daily in Cocoa Beach, Florida. Drag Racing Sparks Concern In Nanuet It's not an every night occurrence, and no one has been killed, but Clarkstown Police are looking to crackdown on complaints of drag racing in an area around Nanuet. The "car enthusiasts," as Officer Peter Walker calls them, have been active in the area for about 20 years and meet at a local shopping center parking lot near Route 59 and the Thruway to check out each other's car and rev their engines. Bicyclist Rescued Following Fall At Park In Mount Pleasant A man who suffered a hip injury while bicycling in Graham Hills Park in Mount Pleasant was rescued by firefighters and EMS, according to Kieran O'Leary with the Westchester County Police. The unidentified man wrecked his bike around 2:02 p.m., Friday along a wooded area of the trail, making it difficult for rescue. Pleasantville EMS and fire department members were able to rescue the man after more than an hour of work. He was transported with non-life threatening injuries to Westchester Medical Center. Man Nabbed In Westchester Lewdness Incident Police nabbed a man in Rockland wanted for performing lewd acts on a fitness trail in Tarrytown while naked. Isiah Styles, 27, of Yonkers, was tracked down by "very excellent work on the part of our detectives," said Chief John Barbelet. A woman called the police on Wednesday to report that a naked man was performing lewd acts even after realizing she had seen him, said Budnar. 9/11 Responder, Mamaroneck Resident Jeffrey Amato Dies At 51 Jeff Amato Sr. of Mamaroneck died Friday, Oct. 13 surrounded by his family and friends. He was 51. Born June 2, 1966, to Gerald and Renee Amato in Suffern, Amato was known for being a selfless man dedicated to helping others. As a construction worker during 9/11, Amato was involved in the search, recovery and clean up at Ground Zero. Like many other first responders, his illness stemmed from his efforts at the site. Route 9G Shut Down In Hyde Park Due To Crash DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -- Route 9G is completely shut down following a single-vehicle rollover crash near South Cross Road in Hyde Park, said state police. The crash occurred around 1:45 p.m. at 1667 Route 9G, said Trooper A.J. Hicks. The unidentified driver is trapped in the vehicle and police estimate the road will be closed for at least the next hour as rescue crews work to extricate the driver, he said. Road Reopens After Dwui Driver Slams Into Pole In Montebello, Police Say Mile Road in the Village of Montebello has reopened to traffic following an accident Thursday that damaged a utility pole causing the roadway to be shut down for several hours. The accident occurred after a 21-year-old man from New Jersey, who was under the influence of drugs, slammed into the utility pole, causing extensive damage, Ramapo police said. Neither the man's name nor place of residence were released. The driver was arrested, and the roadway was closed to allow crews from Orange and Rockland Utilities to repair the pole.

Hopewell Junction Couple Nabbed With Heroin After Incident At Stewart's East Fishkill Police nabbed two local residents with heroin and other drugs during a traffic stop Thursday on Route 82 following an incident at Stewart's Shop.Officers stopped Mikal Anderson, 40, of Pleasant Valley, and Nicole Creighton, 30, of Poughkeepsie, around 10:45 p.m. on Route 82 in Hopewell Junction following the incident at the market, police said. Once stopped, officers discovered that Anderson and Creighton were in possession of brown heroin, oxycodone, valium, marijuana, suboxone, MDMA, also known as "Molly," and about a $1,000 in cash, police said. .22 Caliber Bullet Found At Webutuck High School When students found a .22 caliber bullet at Webutuck High School Thursday, school officials quickly determined there was no need for a lockdown, it's hunting season.
